POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING FOR BOOK 3. Sooo, a while back, @Azog the Moderator and @Artham Iggyfeather asked me to post some of my fanfics i wrote out and here is one of them. It's a very short story about one of the scenes from the third book in TWFS, when Podo is telling the Wingfeather kids about the first time he came to The Green Hollows and he meets Wendolyn.
(@Azog the Moderator i've never posted a fanfic before, soo if there's anything in this that's unacceptable, then please let me know.đ)
âI can do thisâ Podo whispered to himself, racking his brain for so kind of courage. He lied down in his cot begging the maker for strength in the days to come. The next day Podo, along with a hundred other burly hollish men, would make their way to the Field of Finley and begin the Banick Durga. The fiercest competition in all of the Hollows. And that day he would prove himself a skilled fighter and a worthy outsider, worthy enough that he would no longer be treated like an outsider, but a friend loyal to the hollows. More than that, he would prove himself worthy of Wendolyns love. For a whole year, heâd been chasing her, hoping her stubborn father would change, but he hadnât. Luckily Podo was just as stubborn and firm in his intention. He recently discovered the details about the competition and was set on going through. If he meant to stay, he had to try. He was done running and this was the only obstacle preventing him from stopping and settling down. â Iâm done runningâ he said.
He inhaled to blow out his candle, when he heard a thud against his window. He sat up ânot againâ he said with a sigh. He blow out his candle, grabbed his club under the bed, crept to the window, and quickly drew back the curtain and flung open the window, ready to strike. He wouldâve clobbered the hooded figure, had they not drawn back their hood âshhhâ she said, reaching out and touching his arm. Podo lowered his club â Wendolyn? What In blazes are you doing here at this time of night? If your father knew you were here, do you knew the trouble weâd be in!â she grabbed his hand â thatâs why we donât have much time. Podo please donât do this, you donât know what your up against. My people have trained their whole lives for this and they gang up against outsiders like you, especially in our case. My father is an influential man and people are easily persuaded under his word. Your not ready for this Podo. Itâs a trap! Youâll be killed! Please Podo, I love you. I really do. Donât hurt yourself. If this is to appease my father, itâs a hopeless cause. If you want me to marry you just say so. We could marry and away together-â
ânoâ Podo said quietly, âWendolyn, I love you with every fiber of my being, but Iâm done running. Listen, me past is a broken one. There are sins that ainât been paid for. But Iâm done runningâ He gazed into her tearful eyes with his resolute ones. âI aim to stand and fight. If that means wrestling with men twice my size or running till me lungs burn up and me legs give out. So be it. If it earns me favor In your fathers eyes, thatâs the best prize I could receive.â Tears leaked from the corners of her eyes and she whispered âbe carefulâ Podo kissed her cold and trembling hand âI will for youâ She wiped her eyes. Podo said with a chuckle ârun home, or yer father will chase me into hills with a pitch forkâ she laughed softly. âgood-bye Podo, maker help youâ she pulled her hood up and hurried down into the street by the moonlight. âMaker bless herâ Podo said to the night air before closing the window and returning to bed.
