This is a poem I wrote yesterday from Artham's perspective before the fall of Anniera. Enjoy!
I sat alone upon the shore,
Tired of the praise each door
Presented to me when I know
I’m not the person that I show.
They see the valiant sword and quill
Assuming that I’m bold and still,
But doubt is one I know quite well
A bird of prey, my life to fell.
I’m here to keep my brother safe,
And for that end I must have faith
And keep the doubts inside my mind
I cannot let them make me blind.
My only light is Arundelle
Who knows the darkness that doth dwell
Inside my meager heart and soul,
My love and light, she mends my hull.
Maker, thou art who I praise,
For Arundelle who’s there to raise
Me up when little shadows roam
And keep grounded when I’m home.
And yet I almost long to be
Away from reputation; free.
If I could show the world my shame
Perhaps I’d heal from its name.
But, no, I must be strong and calm
To keep my Esben safe from harm.
I am his warden; I’ll protect,
No matter if it leaves me wrecked.
This is beautiful! I really appreciate your use of rhyme scheme and imagery❤️
I’m also currently writing a fan fic of the night Anniera fell from Artham’s perspective…🤔🤔🤔
