“This is madness!!!”
Ren slammed his fists on the table. He grabbed the poor man in front of him by the collar and looked at him intimidatingly.
“Where’s me daughter?!” He shouted.
“I-I already told you everything I know!” Said the man, trembling.
“LIES!” He roared, throwing the man to the floor and unsheathing his sword. He took a threatening step towards the man who was cowering on the ground.
“Enough.” Said a voice from behind.
Ren turned to see Malik walking into the room.
“Think for a moment. If you believe he has answers, would killing him really be the best choice?” He said nonchalantly, leaning against the wall. Ren growled.
“Throw’em in the dungeon!” He barked to the nearest crewmate.
Talia walked in as the man was being dragged out.
“Any luck with that one?” She asked.
“No.” Ren grumbled, before turning to Malik. “Ya knows none of this would’ve happen if ye had keep a better eye on yer sister!” He snapped.
Talia grabbed his arm and shook her head disapprovingly.
“Don’t ya go startin that again.” She said.
Ren grunted then turned and walked out of the room. Malik stood there looking ashamed.
“He’s right, Ma. It is my fault.” He said.
Talia snapped her head towards Malik.
“Now don’t ya dare get to feelin sorry for yerself! Us Symians ain’t got no pity!” She said, spitting at the ground.
Malik shook his head.
“I ain’t havin no pity party. I was only thinkin, that maybe I should just go out and look for er.” He said, standing a bit taller.
Talia waved her hand in the air.
“Oh don’t be ridiculous Malik! We’ve sent many search parties out, and all of em never find anythin! Sendin you out’s a fools mission.” She ranted.
“But there ain’t no one who knows Hali better than I! I know I could find er! Just gimmi a chance!” Malik argued.
Talia sat down in a nearby chair and leaned forward, deep in thought.
“Ya wanna know what I thinks? I thinks it’s that cursed Blagden who swiped me daughter.” She said angerly.
Malik opened his mouth to say something, but quickly closed it. Then he opened it again.
“Maybe so, all the more reason I should go searchin for er!” Malik said.
After a while, Talia sighed, stood up, and placed a hand on her son’s shoulder. She looked him straight in the eyes with a look that was hard to read.
“Bring’er back, ya hear?” She said firmly.
Malik nodded before walking out of the room, more determined than ever.
It would be nice for Hali's brother to find her so that she could be reunited with her family! But I wonder if she will still want to be a pirate? 🤔 And how will her family treat the others??
A red moon rises. The ships have come to carry you home.
Maker please let Hali be ok!!!
