Here it is, chapter three. I am trying to figure out how to add more pirates, and they are coming. Maybe in the next chapter or so. Elijah, if you read this, sorry for making you wait so long. Anyways, here you go, hope you like it! 🙂
For three whole weeks Hali battled with her conscience. She hated that she even cared, but she began to feel a bit bad for the way she treated that young boy. She scolded herself harshly for feeling bad, but she couldn't help it, her conscience was winning her over, and that only made her angry. Of course, she didn’t tell anyone how she was feeling. She didn’t even feel better after they sold their stolen goods and split the money. Every night if she managed to fall asleep, she would dream of the boy and his hazel eyes staring at her. Since they had already sold everything they stole, they were heading back to the sea to see where it took them next. Hali was glad to be back on the water. The open sea was her home. All of it.
About a week later, they were in a new area they had never sailed to before. They began to keep an eye out for other ships. When they sailed freely, which was practically always, they always had at least ten crewmates with them to tend to the ship, except for when they went hunting for specific ships, in which case they took many more. But even with only ten crewmates, they kept an eye out for smaller ships that would be easy prey. They hadn’t seen anything the whole week, which was irritating to Hali. But one night, when Hali had managed to sleep, she was shaken awake by Malik.
“Hurry, wake up! We’ve spotted a small ship. This one will be a breeze. Thought you’d want to come with us.” He finished with a wink before darting back to the deck. Hali quickly got dressed, grabbed her dagger, and dashed up to the deck. Already Malik and six other crewmen were in the boat waiting for her. She jumped in and they began to row quickly to the small ship. Once they got there, they all climbed up to the deck, except two men who stayed behind to mind the boat. But to their great surprise, no one was there. Everyone was gone. They all looked at each other in confusion. Malik looked puzzled, but he signaled for them to look around anyway. Hali began looking for a door to below deck, like she always did. She soon found a door, but she actually wasn’t sure if it was the door to below deck. She signaled to a couple other men to come check it out with her. Then, she opened the door, and slowly made her way down the steps.
It was dark and no one was in sight. One man lit a lantern he found lying on the ground, flooding the room with light, but still they saw no one. Hali walked around the room, slightly annoyed at this total waste of time. They rummaged around a bit, but found nothing of value. She was about to tell everyone they should just turn around and go back when suddenly, the lantern went out. She turned around to see her two crewmates being attacked by three other pirates. She reached for her dagger, but just as her fingers touched the handle, there was a terrible pain on the back of her head and then, everything went black.
When she woke, everything was still quite black. She sat up slowly, and her head whirled. Gently, she touched the back of her head, and pain shot through it like lightning.
“You got hit pretty hard, didn’t you?”
Hali turned a little too quickly, and her head throbbed.
“Careful, your still recovering.” Said the voice
The voice was vaguely familiar. Once her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she looked up slowly to see the face that the voice belonged to. She nearly passed out when she saw those hazel eyes looking at her once again.
Congratulations, again, if you read this all. This one is kind of shorter. But still, here's some pancakes, because you deserve them. 🥞 And yes, Azog, they are gluten free this time. Please give me your honest opinion on this chapter, it always helps. Thanks for reading! 😄
Ooooh cliffhanger!! I am really excited for the next part!
That was really good! Looking forward to the next part! :)
Is Hali gonna share her cookies with hazel-eyes? Is she going to recover the blow to the back of her head? Will she realize that electricity is a lot more efficient than lanterns? Come back next time to find out!
PIRATES!!! MORE PIRATES
Pancakes! Also, this chapter was great! I'm excited to read the next one. Hopefully Malik hasn't forgotten her again...
