Hali was to stunned to speak. So the boy spoke first.
“Remember me?” Said the boy softly
Hali nodded slowly.
The boy smiled a little. Then he turned to grab something. He turned back to her with a canteen of water in his hands
“Here,” he said, “drink some water. It will help.”
Hali reluctantly grabbed the canteen and drank a little water from it. Her head was still throbbing, but less violently now. She looked at the boy again, a million thoughts swirling through her mind.
“Who, who are you?” She finally asked.
“My name is Casimir.” He replied with a small smile.
“What do you want?” Hali asked a bit bitterly.
“We need help. That night when I first saw you, I thought you were here to rescue us. But it seems I was wrong. But now your back, perhaps you can still help us!” He said with a hopeful smile.
“And what make you think- wait, us?!” Asked Hali
“Yes, us, we’re all prisoners, you know.” Replied Casimir. “Come here everyone, it’s alright.”
Then, out of the shadows, three silhouettes appeared, and as they came closer, she could see them more clearly. The first two silhouettes came into view, and to Hali’s surprise, the two looked exactly alike. Two girls with slightly wavy red hair and sea green eyes slowly came forward. They had soft, fair skin with a few tiny freckles on their cheeks. They looked a little younger than Casimir. Then out of the corner of her eye, she saw the third silhouette come into view. A young boy, who looked about the same age as Casimir, with short blond hair that was swept to the side and dark brown eyes approached. The three of them looked at Hali timidly, then at each other, then at Casimir.
“This is Amara and Avalee.” Said Casimir, gesturing towards the two girls “As you can see, they’re twins.”
Hali looked at both twins, confused as to which one was which.
Noticing Hali’s confusion, Avalee pipped up. “I’m Avalee, this is Amara.” She said pulling her sister a bit closer. “You can tell us apart by the birthmark I have here. See?” She turned her head a little and pointed to a noticeable birthmark on the corner of her left eye.
“I… see.” Hali replied
“My name’s Kian.” Said the other boy quietly.
Hali turned again to Kian and nodded slowly so her head didn’t throb.
“What’s your name?” Said Amara shyly.
Hali suddenly snapped out of her daze. She managed to rise to her feet.
“It don’t matter what my name is. How’d I get here? Who brought me here?” Barked Hali
“We’re on a ship called the Abaddon. It’s sailed by a bunch of crazy pirates who kidnapped all of us.” Started Avalee “They’re a group of rebels from Dugtown and Torrboro. They had been sailing for a few years and had gathered quite fortune, mostly from plundering villages. Then one day they stumbled upon Kimera, which is where we’re all from.” Said Avalee
“They attacked our village and took everything valuable. They took us four because of our skill trades.” Said Kian “I’m a blacksmith, Casimir is a woodworker, Avalee does haberdashery and leatherwork, and Amara does basket weaving and cobbling.”
Hali looked at each of them as Kian named their trade skill, then she looked at Kian again.
“That don’t tell me nothing ‘bout why I’m here.” She said placing her hands on her hips. It was then that she realized that her dragon-tooth dagger wasn’t on her belt. Quickly, she turned to where she was previously sitting and scanned the area for her dagger, but it wasn’t there.
“They took it. The pirates, that is.” Said Amara timidly when she noticed her distress.
“What!?” Said Hali angrily.
“They took it from you while you were still unconscious. They know how skilled you are with a dagger.” Said Amara in almost a whisper.
“And how do they know that?” Hali snapped
“I’ll tell you how.” Said a deep, gruff voice from behind. “We know all about you, Hali Evelyn.”
I hope you liked this chapter. I kinda had a hard time figuring out the ending, but I think I did ok, so I hoped you liked it. Here's some fruit this time🍓🍎🍌🍇 As always, your constructive criticism is welcome! 😁
Also, should I be posting this in FanFiction like I usually do? Or should I be posting this in collaborative stories? Or does it not matter? Just wondering.
Great character descriptions! I wonder what specific need the kidnappers have for Hali’s dagger skills…?
Interesting!! I wonder what the stranger has against Hali? Can’t wait for the next part!
Suspenseful!
Hmm. Creepy
Why did they take her dagger? That's not nice! They should give it back!
