This chapter took a little longer than expected, so, sorry about that. It's a shorter chapter this time. Hope you like it!
A tall, grizzly looking man with long matted brown hair and beard stepped down into the room. He had hazy brown eyes, though it was hard to see them because it was so dark. In his hand was Hali’s dragon-tooth dagger. He smiled wickedly, reveling his crooked and yellow teeth. Hali glared at him bitterly, then she spat at the ground near his feet.
“Welcome back!” He said with a roaring laugh. “We’ve been waiting for you.”
“Whatta ya want, old man!?” Hali snapped
“The names Blagden. That’ll be Captain Blagden to you. I’ve been keeping an eye on you. I’ve seen what you can do. I want you to work for me. With your talent, you’d be bringing in more money than three of my men!” He said in a booming voice
“If you think I’m just gonna up and work for you, they your outta your mind! How’d you find me? How do you even know who I am?!” Hali replied sharply
“You came and robbed my ship. Remember that? I saw you. I saw your talent. I was quite impressed, and I don’t just say that to everyone. I’ve had eyes on you since. I knew I needed a skilled pirate like you as a part of my crew. I would expect nothing less from the daughter of Ren.”
At the mention of her father, Hali became more intrigued.
“How do you know my Pa?”
Blagden smiled slyly. “Lets just say he’s an old friend o mine.”
Although Hali wasn’t satisfied with this answer, the tone in his voice made her question whether she really wanted to know. So instead of asking again, she just glared at him, aiming all her anger into that stare. But, to Hali’s great annoyance, he just laughed right in her face .
“I don’t think you understand what I’m giving you. I’m giving you wealth beyond what you can imagine, and a place here with us, the most feared pirates of the sea.”
At this, Hali snickered. “You ain’t even close to the most feared pirates of the sea.”
Blagden took a threatening step towards her and leaned it to look her straight in the eyes. But Hali didn’t even flinch, and she returned his glare with equal fierceness.
“I am offering you something most pirates only dream of. I’ll l give you some time to think bout my offer. Till then, Hali Evelyn.” With that, he sheathed the dagger and clomped back up the stairs.
She turned around to see Casimir and the others staring at her as if she was a ghost.
“What’re you all gawking at?” she demanded
“Y-your Hali Evelyn?!” Asked Amara in a slightly frightened tone.
“Yes.” Hali replied, mildly confused.
“Nobody has ever spoked to Captain Blagden that way! Your very brave.” Said Avalee blithely.
“Everyone know who you are Hali.” Said Kian “You’re the best girl pirate anyone ever saw! I didn’t know it was that was you!”
“Can’t argue with that. But if this Blagden fellow thinks I’m going to work for him just like that, he’s has another thing coming.” Hali said in a determined tone.
Little did she know that her journey would be much more challenging then she imagined.
I know this one is a lot shorter than my other chapters, but my brain was kinda empty at the end. I hoped you still liked it. Your constructive criticism is always welcome! 🙂
The suspense is killing me!😅😂 Great installment, I am extremely intrigued by Blagden being an old friend of Hali’s father, I can’t wait to find out what the backstory is!👍😅 And don’t worry take your time, I am trying yo start writing a story and am still in the process of creating the context for it, all I have so far is a couple of sentences😂🤗🫣
