(Okay so this chapter is gonna be a bit short, I wrote this on a sudden burst of writing inspiration)
In the morning, when Madya woke up, Yora was gone.
There was no trace of her anywhere.
Madya shook her head, thinking that maybe the wolf had enough of adventure, and set to building a fire.
Just then, a brown blur bounded into the clearing, holding two dead fazzle doves.
"Yora! I thought you'd left me." Madya exclaimed.
Yora looked at her with bright blue eyes, deeply offended.
Madya sighed as she set to cleaning the birds. "Okay, well now I know you didn't."
Yora huffed, and eyed Madya.
"...and that you'd never leave." Madya added.
Yora yapped happily, as if in confirmation of what Madya had said.
After the birds were cooked and eaten, Madya and Yora set off to walking in the woods.
They walked mostly in silence, stopping here and there to eat some berries, or for a water break by a river.
Around mid-day, Madya thought she heard voices somewhere in the forest.
She crouched down, Yora following, and the two slowly crept over towards the voices.
"-and the King says that one of the prisoners was around here somewhere." One voice said.
"Well, let's keep looking, the sooner we find them, the better."
Madya wondered who they were talking about when she caught a glimps of the men.
They were Anneieran soldiers!
Yora noticed that, and bounded into the clearing, howling with deight.
"No, Yora, get back here!" Madya ran after her.
The soldiers turned around, and saw the two, Yora looking very pleased with herself and Madya looking very tired.
"Madya Wingfeather?" One guard, the captain, asked.
Madya nodded.
The guards cheered, having found her.
"And who's this girl?" One guard asked.
"Probably the only thing keeping me sane after escaping the Fangs." Madya replied, taking a drink of water from her waterskin.
The guard laughed, and scratched Yora by her ears.
Yora growled quietly, and backed away.
"Oh, she doesn't like her ears touched." Madya said, noticing the guards confused face.
The guard shrugged.
"Well, let's head back to the castle. Hopefully the Throne Warden is back." The captain said.
Madya nearly spit out her water. "Wait! Janner is still back there with them!"
"Wait, haven't you heard?" The captain asked. "We got a report that he escaped, around the same time you did. We're in the process of searching for him now."
Madya breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, good. Okay, let's head back then."
The guards bowed. "As you wish."
I would've reacted exactly as the guard did 😁
Love that doggo😁
