It took about 3 hours to get back to Rysentown.
Even longer to get to the castle.
When Madya and Yora arrived at the castle, the arrival went by as a blur, filled with hugs, tears, and more hugs.
"Sheesh, I get it, you missed me, but we hav bigger problems in store." Madya said, backing away from her family. Obviously, she wasn't a hug kind of person.
Sara looked down.
Madya looked at her. "I saw Janner, and he's fine. For now. We need to hurry and form a rescue mission."
"I don't believe that will be necessary." The captain said, as he strode over to the family. "I've just gotten a report that one of my search teams found the Throne Warden, and are escorting him back to Rysentown this very minute."
Everyone breathed out a sigh of relief.
"Where's pa?" Madya asked Arundelle.
"He's out scouting. Said since he has wings, he'd better put them to use." Arundelle replied.
Madya nodded, then turned to Yora, who was patiently sitting at her feet.
"And who's this?" Kal asked, bending down to get a better look at Yora,
"I found her before I was captured," Madya explained. "She was hurt, and after I helped her, she wouldn't leave me. I named her Yora."
"Does she know dog-speak?" Leeli asked.
Madya shook her head. "She understands me fine. In fact, I bet she knows what we're all saying." Madya looked down at the wolf. "Do you?"
Yora barked, if you could call it that. She nodded her head while yipping.
"Well, there's your answer."
Nia looked at Yora. "I wonder how she is so smart."
Madya shrugged. "I don't know, but her smarts have saved my life quite a few times."
Arundelle smiled. She then looked at Yora. "Thank you for saving my daughter." She said quietly.
Yora stood up, and wagged her tail.
"Well, we'd better start on that rescue mission." Madya said abruptly.
Everyone else agreed, so they, followd by the captain, left into the castle.
Janner felt irritated. He and the soldiers he was with, had taken a rest break. But everytime he stood up, the guards quickly got up and saluted him.
"I've told you already, you guys don't need to keep saluting me when I stand up." Janner said.
The leader of the soldiers shook his head. "It's protocol to salute you. As long as we are in our land, we follow that protocol."
Janner sighed, while the rest of the soldiers were amused.
That was how it was everytime the group took a rest break. The only thing keeping Janner from giving them an order to stand down was the fact that he was nearly home to Castle Rysen.
He would just have to deal with it till then.
"How far till Castle Rysen?" Janner asked during their next break.
"About a half hour." One of the soldiers replied.
"Well, let's move then."
And so the group began the last part of their journey.
Yora needs to join the family! 😁
Janner is such a good guy... like Cincinatus from the Roman legends... he accepts his role because he has to, not because he wants to...
