So I relized that something was a little wrong with chapter 24 so i decied to just give you a recap because that chapter is't really important (It's just a recap of stuff Opal said.) So there locked in a dungeon on Opal's boat, Nia gets mad, Esben tells his side of the story revealing the fact that he did what Opal had told on accident.
Anyways Hope you enjoy my fellow featherheads:)
by the way chapter 53 is the most emotional chapter in the book (in a good way)
Chapter 25 How to Escape a Boat
Sara had been staring at the little small round window in the boat's dungeon, watching the rush of the waves. She was playing with a little curl of hair that was too small to fit in her ponytail.
An hour passed with not a single sound until the door to the boat's dungeon burst open. Suddenly, what looked like three metal round-ish robots, burst through the door. The sight of them made Kalmar leap to his feet as he drew his sword. Janner quickly grabbed his shirt and pulled Kal back down as Sara whispered to them that they needed to be completely quiet until those things left.
The mechanical creatures came around to the dungeons and scanned the cell. Sara studied the mechanical creature’s behavior. Then she noticed something printed on their uniforms. Heat Vision it read, she tried to think of what this could mean when something clicked.
The creatures grunted and roughly barged their way back to the door and slammed it with a bang.
“What was that!?” Kalmar asked nervously.
“I don't know but what I do know is we're getting out of here!” Sara said, looking out the bars to see a little dot on the wall.
“How in the deep do you suppose we do that? We're on a boat!” Podo asked, raising an eyebrow.
“You know being trapped on a boat is a lot better than being trapped in a small cold stone dungeon in a castle. Besides, I have a plan!” She said, like she did this everyday.
“In the words of Aduna the poetess “please do tell.” Oskar said.
“Well, first please everyone empty your pockets.” she said.
Nia looked at Janner with confusion as she reached her hand into her pockets.
“Trust me this will be good." he said to her as she took all the stuff from her pockets and put it in the pile in the middle.
“It's just a bunch of junk.” Kalmar stated once they had all emptied their pockets.
“Not to me it isn’t.” Sara replied, searching the pile for anything she could use. She found a compact, a small tiny notebook, two spools of thread, blush, string, and an assortment of pens. “Perfect!”, she said as she gathered these items.
She bent the tip of the pen again to make a lock pick, then wedged it through the lock and opened the cell door. Then she went back over to the pile and with the string tied the small notebook to the school of thread and then tied the compact, open on the top. Then she grabbed the blush and walked to the very edge of their dungeon being careful not to step outside the cell. She opened the blush and blew it out the cell door revealing hundreds of red laser beams blocking them from crossing to the other side. “Whoa!” Kalmar said.
“Pretty cool, right!” Sara said as she grabbed her next contraption with the little compact mirror.
“I saw a little glowing dot on the wall when we came in here. I thought it might be another contraption of Opal’s.” Sara explained, while carefully leaning up her little contraption to the dot on the wall. When it was lined up she let out a sigh and rolled it across the floor. The compact mirror hit the red dot causing the laser beams to collapse.
“Okay now for the floors….”, she said as she picked up some string and a pen and tied one end of the string to the hook part of the pen and then dropped the pen on the electric ground. As soon as she did this the floor sparked with electricity. Sara wrapped her brain around trying to figure out what they could use to get across the floor until her eyes landed on the dungeon bench.
“Of course! Mr. Artham, Mr. Esben, please help me move that bench outside the dungeon.” She instructed.
They moved the bench outside the cell just as Sara instructed.
“You see, the effects of electricity don’t affect wood so we can walk across this. We won't be shocked and we can walk to the safe spot near the door!” Sara explained.
“And that my friends, is how you get out of the dungeon using science.” she said, smiling at the others who all had surprised faces.
“Okay, what grade were you in?” Janner asked, as Kalmar walked across the bench.
“10th” Sara said, blushing a little bit as Janner carried Leeli on his back across the bench.
“10th!” he said as Nia and Esben crossed.
“Yeah.. the other grades weren't challenging enough so my parents put me in high school science.” she explained as Oskar and Podo crossed the bench.
Artham was about to go when he asked, “Wait, those things will be back again and they will know we're gone. We have to find a way to stall them!” he exclaimed, as Sara walked over to the pile and grabbed matches and some cloth.
“This is how we do that! Those guards have heat vision. it's their way of seeing by detecting heat. It's actually incredibly advanced. Nothing like this has ever been invented before. At least I've never seen anything like it. Anyways, if we light little controlled fires in the cell those guards will think we're here because to them they'll see us, but it really is the fire.” Sara explained.
“Wow, you're really good at science!” Janner said, a little louder than he thought.
“Thanks!” She responded with a smile.
Sara and Artham lit small controlled fires using the matches and cloth and walked across the bench to the little spot near the door that was safe from the electric flooring. When Sara got over to the spot she found the switch on the wall that controlled the floors. She flipped the switch, deactivating the electric floors.
“And that my friends is how you escape a boat dungeon using nothing but science!” Sara said as she carefully cracked open the door.
Well, Sara, apparently we're in the same grade...
