This is a very fun chapterđ I wondered to myself 'what would happen if the Wingfeathers knew that they were in fact book characters?' So I came up with this!đ
Enjoy fellow Featherheads!
Chapter 43 A Featherhead?
They were talking a lot about what they thought everything was and what they were supposed to do while Opal was off adventuring trying to find an exclusive element that she needed for Maker knows what. They were so distracted by looking at every single little thing including a little mouse that ran by, which deeply disturbed them for the fact that this was probably the weirdest creature they've ever seen. It was so simple and small. Leeli tried to pick it up but it hissed at her and ran away which caused Leeliâs eyes to be wide and she walked silently back to the rest of them.Â
Â
They didn't notice a girl who was Janner and Sara's age, who had a dark brown wavy ponytail, with a hot pink scrunchie in it. She had blue eyes and she wore pinkish clear, roundish glasses. She had on tie dye sneakers and black leggings. She had a navy hoodie with a W and a diamond emblem printed on it and on the back it read: The Wingfeather Saga with a picture of three of the Wingfeather characters. She was holding a box of stuff when she came bustling down the street and calling after her parents because her parents were much further ahead of her. âWait, wait for me!...â she called to them as she tried to look over the box of stuff that she had in her hands.Â
The Wingfeathers were now sort of in the middle of the street and they were too busy looking at the mouse so they didn't notice when the girl tripped on a rock and screamed, âLook out!!!â The next thing they knew they were all tumbled over on the sidewalk.Â
âI'm so sorry!â Janner said.Â
âWe shouldn't have been in the middle of the street, we were just so busy looking at⌠it doesn't matter. Here, let us help you pick this stuff up.â Sara offered.Â
âOh, no, oh, no, oh, no!!â The girl said, she was squinting at the pile of stuff, hard, and felt around for something.Â
âWhat's wrong?â Nia asked,Â
âI can't find my glasses anywhere! They're really expensive and I don't want someone to step on them!â The girl said, as she tried to see the Wingfeathers. She could sort of see them though they were very blurry to her. They all started to search where the girl had fallen to find her glasses.Â
âWhat do they look like?â Oskar asked.Â
âWell, they're kind of roundish but the top is straight, they are light pink, they're clear, and they have two silver metal dots on the corners of the frames.â the girl said, as she started to pick up some of the things that she dropped out of her boxes and bags.Â
Then Leeli spotted the glasses, they were on top of a sewer grate and about to fall in. Leeli quickly limped over to the grate, and picked up the glasses. âI found them!â she said, handing them over to the girl.Â
âThank you so much!â the girl said, relieved as she took the glasses from her and put them back on her face. When she saw the Wingfeathers she blinked four times, took her glasses off, put them back on, blinked another four times and put her hand on her head as her jaw dropped.Â
âAre you okay?â Nia asked.Â
âumâŚ..IâŚâ the girl managed to stammer out,Â
âAre you okay?â Sara asked,Â
âIâŚI..â the girl said, and then shook her head like crazy and said âYeah
I'm fine, it's just you look a lot like some of my favorite book characters..â Then she remembered something and said, âYou're probably cosplayers for âThe Wingfeather Saga Season Finaleâ aren't you?â she said, relieved that she wasn't going absolutely out of her mind.Â
At the mention of the name Wingfeather all of them looked incredibly surprised and Incredibly nervous as they stole a glance at each other.Â
âYeah..yeah..yes, we are cosplayers for The Wingfeather Saga that we are⌠cosplayers we areâŚâ Kalmar managed to say, (he had no idea what any of those words meant except for Wingfeather which deeply concerned him.)Â
Leeli quickly changed the subject and asked the girl, âWhat is all this stuff?â she said, as she put a black box-like object with a round circle on it that was sort of clear, back in the box.Â
âOh this, it's my film equipment.â the girl said. They all looked at her curiously because they had no idea what âfilm equipmentâ meant. She picked up on this, then she explained, âIt's stuff like my camera, tripods, Gimbal, my green screen and my tablet. And then of course all the stuff that I need to do with it like: my Wingfeather Fanfiction, the Wingfeather books, my hand painted Wingfeather mini dolls. All the stuff I need to enter the contest.â she said, picking up a large green piece of fabric and putting it into the box.
Â
âWhat contest?â Janner asked, putting a book labeled The Wingfeather Saga Warden and the Wolf King into the box but not before giving a hard look at the cover. He saw someone who looked incredibly like himself along with Kalmar as a Wolf Fang and Leeli, all printed on the cover.Â
âOh well, I'm an incredibly big fan of the Wingfeather Saga; hence the sweatshirt.â the girl said, gesturing towards her sweatshirt which they now knew was the Wingfeather logo. âSo the author and director of the show and books proposed a contest where you can write a Fanfiction for what happens at the end of Warden and the Wolf King because they never finished it. Literally, the second that I heard about this I squealed so loud that my dog started whining at me. Luckily, I had already written three Fanfictions before this contest came up, but I wanted to do something extra and I wanted to actually make it into a movie. so I quickly self-taught myself how to do 3d computer animation. Then I made it into a movie! But I only have an hour left to get it uploaded so that's why I was running in such a hurry and carrying all this stuff.â the girl said, thinking back to the morning before, when she and her parents had rushed here, all the way to get everything ready.Â
âTell me about this Wingfeather Saga, what is it?â Janner asked suspiciously.Â
âOh it's a Christian fantasy novel for kids, well, really for anyone but it's about a family and they live in this small town infested by these green lizard-like, or well they can be wolf-like creatures, called the Fangs. There is a Dark Ruler, called Gnag the Nameless, and he is so evil that he drove this family out from their original home. Well, I don't want to spoil it but I'll tell you this, it was a much better place than the little cottage that they were living in. Later in the fourth book, they actually get to go back to their original home; although, one of them only gets to enjoy it for half a day because something happens to that character. Then the Epilogue..oh, don't even get me started on that Epilogue, I get a little too frustrated when I talk about that.â the girl said, as she finished putting everything back in the box and picked the box up and also her purse and two bags.Â
âWhat happens in the Epilogue?â Sara asked, after they all exchanged glances at each other.Â
âWell I don't want to spoil it," the girl said.Â
"No no it's so very fine, please tell us what happens in the Epilogue.â Janner said, hoping and praying that it wasn't what he thought it would be.Â
âOkay.. well the character, he's actually the main character, well one of them anyways, but he has to save his brother from dying by using this magical stone so he pushed him out of the way causing himself to die. However, his family remembers this hidden First Well which was created by The Maker (which is who they call Jesus, in this book). But it was said that the First Well was to have magical healing properties that could do more than just healing. So the Epilogue has them waking up the next morning and the brother and his uncle (who has wings) try to find this First Well. This ends with the brother saying to his mother and I quote âAre you coming?â Yes, it ends there, just like that. And I start to spiral into a Wingfeather hurricane, you could call it. Yeah, oh yeah, I have a lot of theories and a lot of thoughts about what should happen next.â The girl explained, as she remembered the night that she had finished reading that final book of the Saga. She remembered how even after the first week that she had finished reading the Saga, she went quite crazy about that Epilogue (she still to this day is crazy about that very same Epilogue). On the good side of it though, she did write four Fanfictions, all wonderfully intense and mysterious.Â
Janner looked very white in the face because his entire life, pretty much anyways, was just told to him by some stranger from another world who couldn't possibly have known him or any of them. The fact that this person said that his life was written about in a book and that she also said that it was a TV show (whatever a TV show is), made Janner want to freak-out.Â
âWell I have to go because I don't want to be late and I need to catch up with my parents, but thank you so much for helping me
" We have to stop Opal.â Janner said, trying to forget about the fact that a girl, who he had no idea who she was and who came from a completely different world than all of them, knew his entire life story and said it was a book and TV show. Whatever TV is? and that there was an author of this book.Â
âYou heard Opal. We can't stop her, we just have to wait for her to take us back.â Kalmar said, as he slunk into the bench.Â
âWell, we can't do nothing.â Sara said, feeling frustrated at their situation.Â
âMaybe we should start with trying to blend in a little more. Apparently here, we're fictional characters in a fantasy adventure book.â Leeli said.Â
âHow do you suppose we do that? We don't have the right type of money to buy clothes here.â Janner said.Â
âWe could find a job.â Kalmar suggested.Â
âOne, they're not going to let kids work. I don't think they would in any world. Two, we're not going to be here for 5 years, Kalmar, and three, who's hiring anyone these days?â Janner asked. Just as he said that someone came crossing the street holding a sign that read âWe're hiringâ. It was a sign for a clothing store.
``You have got to be kidding me!â Janner exclaimed, putting his palm on his forehead.Â
âWell, let's go!â Nia said. The woman holding the sign looked nice, so it was worth a try.Â
WOOOOAHHHHHHHH WHAT JUST HAPPENED.
