Okay, so I saw the post Mystic Forest made on YT, and it made me want to write about it. So here you go!
Rain pounded hard against the roof of Fort Lamendron as I pulled the hood of my cloak over my head and climbed into the Black Carraige. While I rode my shadowed steed into the dark night, the sound of wailing children from nights before haunted my memories, and try as I might, I could not help remembering how I had become the Fangs’ Shadowed Driver, nine years ago.
I remember it like it was yesterday. There were rumors going around about these strange lizard-like creatures from Dang coming to wage war on the land. Some believed it, others did not. I was one of those that chose not to believe that anything could spoil my bright and happy world. And then it happened.
I was sitting on the cliff near the Dark Sea of Darkness, staring at the clouds and thinking about how wonderful my life was. I thought about Yalra, the one I was soon to marry. I dreamt of all the time we could spend together, all the adventures we could go on. I got weary as I continued to daydream, and as I was nodding off into sleep, I thought I could make out a black ship and a billow of smoke in the distance.
I awoke to a putrid smell invading my nose, and to enough screaming and shouting to wake the whole of Aerwiar. “ What is going on?” I muttered tiredly to myself. I sat up and opened by eyes to a nightmare more frightening than anything I could ever dream about. Smoke and fire surrounded the place, and I saw various people from by beloved Glipwood being dragged by what looked a lot like the scaly creatures that had been described in the telling of what were once simply rumors. The shock of what was happening didn’t register in my brain, until I saw a sight that plagues me even to this day. Yalra. She was being dragged away by some foul creature crying and wailing my name. I couldn’t think. So I fainted.
I must have only fainted for a few seconds, because when I came to, the place was still a tragic mess and people were being dragged down the cliff to the dock next to the sea. And one of the Fangs finally to notice of me. “You there!” He said, his voice sounding like he had just eaten a bar of rusty metal. “You’re coming with me.” He walked over to where I was and wrapped his cold, scaly fingers tightly around my arm. He jerked me upright and dragged me in line with the rest of my family and friends, where we waited, hoping that this tragic nightmare would end. I looked across the line to where Yalra was being dragged onto a boat, and as my eyes filled with tears, I wondered if we would ever see each other again, I wondered if she would survive in the hands of the evil Fangs of Dang.
Wow
