Writing challenge - Maddie Pennypat

"Wait for me, Maddie!" Laughed a little boy

"You'll have to catch up!" Maddie said back playfully.

The two ran through the green grass that covered the hills around them. They lived in a small cottage in those hills with there parents.

"I got you!" Said the boy when he finally caught up.

"Good job Judah." Maddie said out of breath, "We should get back home now, Ma and Pa will be worried if we're not back within the hour."

"Alright" said Judah, a bit sadly.

"We can always come back tomorrow!" Said Maddie, putting an arm around her little brother as they walked. Judah brightened.

"OK! I'll race you back!" And with that, he sprinted off in the direction of their house. Maddie laughed. She never said no to a challenge. They ran until they were close to the house, then Judah stopped dead in his tracks. Maddie wondered what he saw that made him stop.

"What's wong?" She asked when she caught up. Judah pointed a trembling finger towards their house, and there stood two Fangs of Dang with the spears pointing at their parents, who were tied up and on there knees.
