Just a happy chapter! And in case anyone forgot (cause it has been a while since First Well) Artham has a daughter in my universe. Just remember that 😅
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: THE ANNOUNCEMENT
About two months have passed since our last chapter. Madia was in her sitting room, knitting. Esben was beside her, sketching on his pad.
“Esben, do you think your brother has been acting strangely?” Madia asked, not even looking up.
Esben smirked. “Yes. And I know what’s wrong with him.”
“What?”
“I think…you’ll be having a grandchild soon.”
Madia looked up from her knitting. “WHAT!?”
Truly, Artham and Arundelle had been acting rather strangely. And Arundelle had been spending much more time in her bedroom. Artham had been treating her differently too. Not that he had ever been rough, but there was a certain tenderness in which he now regarded her, and a type of light that would enter his eyes when he saw her.
Esben had his guesses. Madia had no clue. And Emerald was oblivious. She had grown rather distant of late.
“Do you think we should tell them, Artham?” Arundelle asked.
“We should, yes. How about tonight at dinner?”
“After dinner. I know Esben would choke if he found out while eating a bite of bean and batter stew.”
Artham laughed. “That makes me want to do it at dinner now.”
Arundelle scoffed.
That night, after dinner, when the whole family was seated in the main sitting room, Artham decided to mention casually that he had something to say.
Madia froze. Emerald glanced up from her book, and Esben stopped breathing for a moment.
Ari looked at Artham, who nodded. “There’s gonna be a new addition to the Wingfeather family,” she said quietly.
For a moment, all was quiet. Then Esben whispered, “I knew it.”
Artham couldn’t help but laugh, and soon everyone was talking at once and asking so many questions that Artham and Arundelle had a hard time keeping up with answers. Finally, things started to calm down.
Madia had tears in her eyes. Emerald for once looked somewhat happy, and Esben was elated. “It has to be a girl!” he exclaimed.
“Why? I want a little boy,” Arundelle said, smirking.
“I’m on Esben’s side,” Artham said.
“You just want a girl that looks like Arundelle,” Esben teased.
“Why do you think she wants a boy?” Artham said, laughing.
There was laughter and happiness all around. No one could be more pleased, however, than Artham and Arundelle.
Esben did have a hard time seeing his brother, the brother he saw fall into a mud puddle face first so hard it came out of his nose, as a father.
“I’ve seen it all,” Esben muttered. “He’s married and about to be a dad.”
I hope you enjoyed! Though this will be the last happy chapter for awhile 😅
AAAAWWW I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!
