I know that many people belive that Janner comes back to life after TWatWK and have good reasons to.
But I disagree.
I belive that the sacrifice for un-transforming the Fangs and the Cloven is somebodys death and therefore Janner dies and stays dead.
And many say that the story whould be to sad if Janner stays dead but I also disagree with that, too.
Janner is now safe, with the Maker and his father, Esben.
So, really, the ending isn't all that sad at all.
I'm quite satisfied with it.
I'm iffy on both sides. I will say that I think Andrew Peterson ends the story so as to let the reader decide what happens.
Hey @J. M., a Throne Warden (that has ADHD and sometimes acts a bit more like a High King) to two sisters, a tinkerer/fixer of things, and a science, engineering, and aerospace aficionado extraordinaire,
I have a new piece of (maybe?) evidence you might want to consider. It’s not necessarily in the story, but it definitely is evidence. Look in the opening pages of tWatWK, at the poem by George MacDonald. The last two lines:
“Gainful death and
newborn LIFE”
lol I guess it could be up to your interpretation, but maybe AP was dropping a hint? 😉
I guess you just proved how unpopular your opinion is! 🤣🤣🤣
I believe that Janner comes back, but after my son realized that Janner was reunited with his father and was in the Maker's presence and everything was perfect and amazing for him, he didn't want Janner to come back! He insists that Janner has to stay dead.
While I do believe he comes back, this is actually beautiful 🥺
I believe that Janner lives. My reasoning:
Janner's sacrifice kinda represented Jesus' sacrifice, therefore coming back to life is very much part of it.
If they did find the Well, Janner would come back.
They did find the Well. Artham can't keep his wings, and if he does, he still needs healing.
SARA! Who else would she go to? Sara will need someone to care for her when she's an adult, and honestly, I can't see her marrying anyone else. (Don't say Kal, because he marries Galya)
Nia. Kal can't take care of her. Nia needs her 13-year-old son to take care of her now that Esben, Podo, and Rudric died.
Kalmar. Who else is going to be his Throne Warden? And he needs a LOT of help to run the kingdom, he can't do it by himself, and Artham can't just help him along. Artham doesn't have the total instinct to protect Kalmar, because he did not grow up with 'protect Kalmar' drilled into his head. Artham grew up with 'protect Esben'. Kalmar needs a Throne Warden who grew up with 'protect Kalmar' drilled into his head.
And as Rosalina said, IN THE PRINCE OF YORSHA DOON, Oskar said that Anniera had been returned to its former glory. Anniera wouldn't have been returned to its former glory without Janner. I will not change my mind.😑
Leeli. She can't stand High King Annoying with out the brother who doesn't mess with her.
And then there are other reasons.
At the end of TWatWK, there is a picture of the Well, therefore they must have found the Well.
Nugget. In the show, Nugget was not breathing after the battle. So Peet had take the dog to the treehouse, which probably took hours, and then he had to find the Well water, with the fact that the kids he was trying to protect were in danger. That dog was dead by the time Peet gave him the Well Water. Therefore, Nugget was resurrected. If he was resurrected, then that means if they gave Janner the Well Water, then Janner would also be resurrected. 🙃
His respawn failed.
But let’s think about the other characters!
Let the rant begin!
Kalmar would probably feel really guilty for Janner’s death, like he did at the end. I don’t think that pain would ever go away
Nia oh man she’s had a hard life, so her mother died, at the same time her husband died, then came back in book 3, then her boyfriend (Rudrik) died, THEN her father died THENNN first born died! Girl! That’s a lot!
My girly Sara😭 awww she loved Janner so much she LITERALLY crossed an ocean to find him and when she got there he was gone😭😭😭 that’s some deep scars!
Plus if you look at the analogy between Wingfeather and the Bible. And Jesus’s sacrifice for us then logically Janner would come back
My evidence: if you have read Wingfeather takes then in the first story (Prince of Yorsa doon) Oskar briefly mentions that Anniera has been restored to its former glory implying that the Wingfeather’s came back from the epilogue adventure and rebuilt the palace.
Then in the last story (places beyond the maps) Sara’s father sees her in castle Rysen, as a PRINCESS in the throne room.
So it. Unfortunately does not say Sara Wingfeather BUTTTT!😄
It does say that Sara’s father returned home and his wife called to their daughter to bring their grandkids to meet their grandpa! Thus Sara has kids.
Now this could mean that either Janner came back or she married some random person and Nia adopted her thus she’s a princess by adoption or marriage.
Alsooooooo! We can assume that they reach the first well sense in book 4 at least in the rebrand hard covers they have an illustration of what is described to be the first well
Ok sorry for the long rant!😅 I’ve obviously thought about this a lot!
