Did you guys see the Wingfeather Saga YouTube channel's newest post? They were promoting Angel studios new movie sketch with a app that the sketch team had made. The Wingfeather team drew some sketches of creatures (toothy cow, thwap, squeeblin) and put it through the app to make them the same style as the movie. The only problem was the app uses AI. Now a lot of people are disapointed with the Wingfeather team because apparently they were promoting AI, when they were simply promoting the new movie. Almost all of the comments were about being disapointed in the crew and some even wanted to stop supporting WFS. This really rubbed me in the wrong way and its crazy how one simple promotion can hurt a company.
So I have a few questions, 1. do you think AI is ok sometimes 2. would one questionable thing make you completely make you leave something? 3. did you like that they used the app?
I do think AI is ok sometimes! In school all the teachers yell at us for using AI with our papers and stuff, and this IS true. You shouldn't AI generate things like "make me a history paper about the attack of the bokoblins vs the Hylians" and then make it do your work for you. For animating it is a little different because to make a fun and accurate animation you probably shouldn't use AI... It would never pass as human 😅 but enhancing your already animated work with AI? That is fine! Also for school papers, you can ask for ideas, or even generate a paper and look at it, but of course never cheat. That is, well, cheating.
It would depend on what the thing is. For this specific case, I totally would not leave it... (Although I have not read Wingfeather yet I would like to and so it's on my To-Be-Read list!) but if the creator/content made something that was entirely unkind or just plain made me uncomfortable, and they kept bringing it up, I would definitely leave. AI is sort of??? a political thing right now and so I can see why people could get really upset by it, but come on. A fictional book/show should be allowed to use AI. If it ever became rude or vulgar or anything because of AI, that would be a different matter.
I honestly have no opinion on this one! I have tried many times to make animations, and let me tell you it is HARD. Like harder than Jawbreakers. Any trick that helped me, I would totally take it. Then again, if it looked weird, I would probably stop using it! Also, like you said, they were not "promoting AI."
Sorry, this is so long 😭 literally, me and my dad could talk about controversial AI usage like ALL THE TIME. So. Yep.
Wait, is there a movie coming out?
Yes I do, when my mom was going thru her divorce process she used chat gpt and said it was like having her own private lawyer and it helped so much. I also use a website called boredhumans.com when I'm bored and it does have some weird stuff but in the celebrity chatbox area YOU CAN TALK TO JANNER, although you have to ask him "who are you" as your first question bcz the last couple times he said something like "I am Janner Wingfeather, High King of the Shining Isle of Skree, son of Artham and Esben Wingfeather" so sometimes you have to set him straight 😭
Welp, if it was just qUeStIoNaBlE than I wouldnt leave per say ( I honestly have no idea what that means but I'm gonna use it to sound smart ;)), but if it was like something actually bad than I would leave.
Uhhhhhh I know nothing about Sketch so I cant really answer that all I know is that its a movie XD
I saw that post and thought it was really cool that they were supporting the app. I was kinda mad at the people making rude comments.
The main issue with AI is legality. Most aI is trained on data on the internet, without consent of the original creators, and never giving credit. What I LIKE about the Sketch App is that it's an AI trained on only art by the talented artists at Angel Studios with completely licenced work. On top of that, the AI is used to PROMOTE creativity, as it makes a child's drawing look like it's come to life, not a person writing 'draw me something with bad legalities'
I think it could be used for good sometimes...maybe
Depends on the situation
I didn't have a problem with it and thought that it was cool! 😄
.... before I answer I will need to know what the video is called, go watch it, then evaluate.
yes
maybe
yes
I saw that too, and I wasn't sure about it. Good questions!
I think only if it is used very sparingly, for entertainment/playing around with it. It definitely should not be used for school or any kind of creative work.
Depends on the circumstance- in this case, no. Especially because WFS posted a comment specifically stating that they don't support using AI for making art.
I don't hate it, but I think it might have been better if they advertised Sketch some other way. Especially because they are an animated show, with lots of fans who are also artists.
I saw this too and it really bothered me how people reacted. But…I think them using the app was just to support sketch, not AI. And… I don’t think they will ever switch to using AI.
It’s really a matter of opinion… but using AI too often can be problematic.
Depends on the questionable thing.
I’m unbothered that they used the app. But I do hope they don’t keep using AI for their sake.
I dont have YouTube, so I didn’t see this, I’m still gonna answer these questions.
My personal preference is against AI and I try to keep from using it as much as possible.
Depends on the questionable thing. In this specific case, no.
Idk what this is so I can’t answer.
