Chapter 18 Queen Opal Stars
Suddenly the door to the cage in the dark black ship opened. The Shapeshifter named Scar demanded, “Get up! We're here!”
The kids were forced up (even though they were thrilled to get out of the dungeon) and made to walk in single file up the dock until they reached the ground. The ground was a dark grayish purple color and the sky was as black as night with thunder and lightning.
They walked a little bit longer on this strange cold, scary island before they saw it.
A huge, black and purple stone castle! There were three black spires on top of the castle. They were all tall and sharp but the one in the middle was taller than the rest. The one in the middle also looked sharper than the rest towards the top of the castle. The bottom half of the castle was a lighter purple while the top was a dark navy color. Sitting on this top level was a dark purple cloud-like shape with black shiny stars covering it. There were two tall windows with black window panes that were set perfectly on the wall. But something that was unusual that Janner couldn't quite figure out what it was, was that all over the castle in different spots hanging underneath things was a dark black goo or something that was dripping off the castle. There was a strange sense of beauty in the dark exterior.
Janner gulped as the Shapeshifters pushed them in through the castle doors. The inside was like the outside: cold, dark, weary and there was a sense of sadness hanging around in the air.
The walls were a stone purple color and had dark purple trim. Rooms were filled with many strange, strange things. For example, one of the rooms (this one had magenta walls with pink crystals lining the walls) had a table with a bunch of beakers and test tubes on it that were filled with toxic chemicals. Janner noticed that one of the beakers that was filled with a lime yellow toxic chemical was on its side, spilling into a puddle of glowing yellow goo. He wanted to tell somebody that the beaker was spilling onto the floor, but he thought no one would listen or care. So he just kept quiet.
They were taken down many purple hallways, all more creepy than the last. Janner wondered to himself, why everything was so purple. He normally thought of purple being a royal or happy color, never a scary intimidating one. However, in this circumstance paired with the black and the stone and the feelings of fear, he had right then; it actually seemed quite a villainous color.
Next thing they knew they were taken into what looked like the throne room of the castle and the Shifters pushed them forward so hard that Kalmar fell over. The walls of the throne room were extremely high and were shiny, almost marble like purple and hanging from it was a dark purple crystallized amethyst chandelier. The floor was a gray and purple marble with a dark pink velvet carpet leading up to a platform with a singular throne and a woman was sitting in it. They couldn't see what she looked like because she sat in a shadow. But in the corner tied to a silver stone chair was none other than Sara! Her hands and feet were tied and she wore a gag that covered her mouth. When she saw the Jewels her eyes widened and she tried everything to worn them but her gag was too thick,
“Sara!” Janner cried, rushing to her but before he could get to her the guards blocked him and jabbed him to the ground with the butt of their spears.
“No! Don’t hurt him!” Sara muttered. Janner blinked away angry tears as he reluctantly stood next to Kalmar and Leeli.
Then a voice from the shadows spoke.
“Well, well, well, so kind of you three to join me in the Dark Castle of Darkness.” Her voice was cold and calm with a little British flair. It was so bone chilling and horrible that it made Janner shiver.
“Let-her-go!” Janner said strongly.
“Oh yes, your girlfriend. To think you've come all this way to find her and I only used her as bait. You fools fell directly into my trap.”, the woman from the shadows said.
Janner turned quite red and said, “First we're just friends.” under his breath he said, “I think anyway.” “And second, why do you want us so badly? Do you need us to open the Fane of Fire or something? Because the door cracked in two.” Janner finished.
“And by the way how in all of Anniera do you even know us?” He added.
“No, what I want for you is a much greater purpose than the Fane of Fire, a purpose that is much deeper than any Gnag the Named or whatever he was called, that you could ever come up with!”, she exclaimed with an evil grin.
“Who are you?” Kalmar gathered the courage to speak up.
The woman rose from her magenta velvet throne (which appeared to be made of dark purple crystals) and stepped out of the shadows saying, “My name is Queen Opal Stars of the Dark Castle of Darkness.” she replied, revealing herself to them. Her skin was as pale as ice, her hair was as black as night but the tips of her hair were the color of plums, her eyes were a turquoise color and her lips were redder than apples. She wore a little silver crown in her hair and she also wore a long ankle length dark purple dress with deeper purple shiny high heels and a long velvet black cape. She had the meanest expression on her face but somehow also remained calm and regal.
Stars, Stars, Stars, Janner wracked his brain. He knew he had heard that last name before…but where…of course! Ah, Mr. Stars the wizard! He thought, “could the two somehow be related?”
“Why do you need us? Let us go!” Leeli demanded.
Opal smiled and said “Let me tell you all a little history lesson, one that happened long before you or your little Shining isle of Anniera. There are four other surrounding lands around Aerwiar ; Biolumia, Ember Island, The Emerald Kingdom, and the Golden Kingdom. When this world was created these lands were all under the name of Aerwiar. A special power was given to each land. To keep it controlled, a crystal star was made so all of the power could be kept safe. It was said if it was used correctly, the crystal star would open a portal to a world much like ours but somehow much different. But people got greedy and tried to steal the crystal for themselves, and doing so the crystal shattered into five crystal shards. One was taken by each ruler of the lands. You see, I need those crystals, I need something from that other world, something much more powerful than anything here.”
“If you want the crystals so bad then why haven't you just stolen them already?” Kalmar asked.
“Because she needs us to get them.” Janner said, frowning.
“This is true, only people with blood from the first kingdom can take the crystals.” Opal said.
“You're talking about Anniera!” Janner Exclaimed.
“Yes, The Shining Isle of Anniera, only true royals from the kingdom can retrieve the crystal shards.” she explained.
“And if we say no?” Janner asked strongly. Opal smirked and said,
“You do realize In one swift movement of my hand I can have your so-called Anniera burned to the ground.. again!”
“Why are you doing this?” Leeli asked, about to cry.
“Oh, please, you know why I am doing this!”, the queen exclaimed.
“No we don't, we don't know who you are, we don't know what happened to you to make you do this, and we don't know why you hate us!” Janner responded with indignation.
“Oh, so you want to know what happened to me, do you? Well, fine I'll tell you what happened to me!”, Opal yelled!
This is interesting, I haven't read the other chapters yet! I want to though.
When Janner said "First off, we're friends, I think anyway" had be laughing so hard🤣
This was good!
