Chapter 22 Building It Up
“Okay just a little to the left.” Gammon said as four Annierians hung a wooden beam in the air.
“That's good!” he said and they put the beam on the platform next to the other wooden beams. He walked over to a table with a set of blueprints on it.
Maraly was standing over it, looking at the prints to the actual thing. She turned to Gammon and said, “At this rate the Wingfeathers could go on 10 more adventures before things get finished.” she said, frowning.
“I know, when Nia asked if we could rebuild Castle Rysen for a surprise for the kids, I thought yeah, no problem. It turns out rebuilding a castle from the studs takes such a large amount of time.” Gammon said, staring at the prints and then the castle.
“Well I'm going to go help pick up the debris and stuff so maybe we'll get done faster.” Maraly said as she walked to the garden. The garden was a disaster, everything was dead. And the ground was a sick brown color.
After four more hours of work, no noticeable change had been made to the appearance of Castle Rysen. Gammon was frustratingly trying to tell the crew about the changes to the castle when Maraly came in swinging a large sword saying, “Shadow Blade to the rescue!” in a silly voice. Then the light hit the sword. It was incredibly bright. Gammon looked up at her.
“Maraly.. where did you get that?” he asked with curiosity.
“Oh this, I found it when I was cleaning up. It might be Esben’s maybe or maybe it's older than that.” she said.
“Show me exactly where you found that!” he said worriedly.
She led him through the castle down to the garden, specifically between an apple and a cherry tree. “Here” she said, pointing to a large pile of stuff. Gammon dug through it. He found swords, armor, scrolls, a couple of books, and a necklace. But Gammon pushed all of this away to see, slightly hidden in the ground was an Annierian Dragon Symbol.
“Maraly, stand right here and aim the sword towards the sun.” he instructed.” She did so and when she did the sun hit the sword just the right way, the light reflected off of it, pointing towards where the old garden swing was.
They rushed over to that spot and started to dig with some of the shovels that were scattered all around. Maraly had no idea why they were doing all of this, but she could tell Gammon did, so she just kept digging.
Suddenly, the shovel hit something, something hard. They dug a little more until they were able to see it. “Cool!” Maraly said, for the thing that they hit was a treasure chest! They pulled the chest up from the ground and brushed the dirt off of it.
Gammon looked at Maraly and said, “Will you do the honors?”
“Of course!” she said and carefully unlatched the chest, when she looked inside her face dropped, there wasn't anything inside.
“There's nothing in here.” She said to Gammon
“Look again, there has to be something," he replied. So she reached her hand inside the treasure chest and felt something sharp and cold. She lifted the little object out to reveal a little purple crystal shard. “What is it?” she asked Gammon.
“I don't know, but the Wingfeathers need to see this.” He said.
😱😱😱😱THEY FOUND A CRYSTAL?!?!
