Ok so note in the chapter: it is't a relationship fight it's just a friend fight because there friends ok. The reason for this chapter is to prove the magical effect of the forest. So tecnically It's not them but the forest.
Ok so anyways, hope you all enjoy!
See ya later Iggyfeathers!
Chapter 30 The Twisted Tree Forest
The forest was like any normal forest: lots of trees and all the trees were big and tall. They ran in the forest for about 15 minutes before they stopped at a sign planted in the middle of five paths.
“I think.. we lost Opal..” Kalmar said, as they all were breathing heavily from running.
“What's that sign?” Leeli asked, pointing to the little wooden sign planted in the middle of the paths. Janner walked over to it and read it out loud.
“You have entered the Twisted tree Forest, from which you cannot Escape. unless you choose the right path. There is no way back from where you came; only one of these five paths will lead you out of the forest. The others lead to horrifying, terrifying traps. Choose Wisely, Adventurers, for this may be your hardest choice yet!”
All the paths were identical. nothing stood out between the five. “They're all identical, how can we possibly find the right one if they all look the same?” Kalmar moaned, wishing that they were anywhere else but here.
“There's got to be some way we can figure it out, there always is if we look hard enough.” Artham said, optimistically.
Sara was closely examining each path trying to look for any sort of difference that she could discover.
“You know, maybe we should just turn ourselves in, to Opal, I mean.” Janner said, with worry painted over his face.
At this Sara turned around and said, “What! we can't just turn ourselves in, are you crazy?!”
“I'm just saying we have a better chance of surviving being under the control of a crazy queen than going into a trap!” He replied.
“We're not going into a trap, I know which path to take, it's that one.” She said, pointing to the one on the far right.
“How do you know?”
“I just do okay.”
“I don't think it's a good idea.”
“Oh, so you don't believe me?”
“No, it's just I don't want anyone getting hurt!” he replied, raising his voice.
“Do you really think I would lead you all into a trap?” she said angrily.
“No, it's just how are you possibly sure that that path is the right one? They all look identical!” Janner argued.
“Oh, so you don't trust me, that's what it is!” Sara said, looking hurt.
“Uh… guys!” Kalmar said as he and Leeli watched the trees from where they came starting to burn with blue and green flames.
“Not now Kal!” Janner said through grinding teeth, not even turning his head to look at his brother.
“It's not that I don't trust you, it's just…”
“It's just what?”
“I don't know, maybe it’s just that I don't want to get hurt!”
“Oh come on, Janner, I know it's this way!”
“Guys!” Leeli said.
“Not now Leeli!” Sara said, getting back to the argument.
Kalmar walked over to Nia and asked, “Why are you not splitting them up? Do you not see the trees back there burning with Opal’s dragonfire?”
“Yes, I see the fire and we need to hurry, but this isn't something you rush Kal, they have never had a fight before, it's natural.”
“But shouldn't you be more concerned with the fact that we might be burnt alive by Queen Opal!”
“Kalmar Igiby Wingfeather, do you really think that I would let anything at all hurt you?”
“No, but we still need to hurry!” he sighed.
“Ugh! Janner! Why don't you trust me!” Sara asked, raising her voice.
“Because!... I’m the Throne Warden, it's my job to protect you guys, all-of-you. And handing ourselves over to Queen Opal might just be the best way to do that.” Janner said, looking sorrowfully at the ground.
“Janner I……” Sara said as her voice trailed off.
“Guys!” Leeli and Kalmar both shouted at the same time.
“What!” Janner and Sara both shouted, turning around looking quite irritated with the two of them.
When they looked at them, they saw the burning trees in the background.
“Opal’s in the Twisted Tree Forest!” Kalmar blurted out as the flames grew closer. Sara turned her head to Janner, and looked him straight in the eyes and asked strongly, “Do you trust me?”
He looked from her to his family and back to her and said, “Yes.”
“Good!” she said as she took his hand in hers and they ran down the 5th path along with all the other Wingfeathers closely following behind.
Make sure to read the next chapter very carfully, it tells you something that will happen in the epiloge!
