that guy always kinda weirded me out, i wasnt necessarily expecting it, but i cant say as i was surprised. A couple times Janner would mention something along the lines of him not feeling right i think. He could tell that Bonifer was pretending not to care that Kal was a fang That didnt makes sense to me, idk maybe its just cuz i already know what he did but i never liked him, he seemed like a fraud from the start
honestly one thing that really got under my skin was the lack of respect from the hollowsfolk when they first arrived. The Wingfeather family went through so much and then they get treated like that, cuz ur right its the king and queen who are their closest allies. And to what purpose, what was treating them poorly gunna do except effect them negatively in the long run. He may have wounded his own brother but he wasnt aware of what he was doing, he was lost. personally i dont believe he was a Fang while he was aware of who he was. I think the Hollowsfolk would define being a fang by weather u look like one or not, i dont believe that thats true. Kal never hurt anyone while aware of himself even when being provoked and hated, thats not something a lot of Hollowsfolk could say even "being" human. wow i did not mean to write this much, i clearly feel very strongly about this😂
honestly they all are!!! even the villains are wonderfully woven into the story
Ooh, there's a great line in Wingfeather Tales about a human who was a "fang" even though he wasn't a fang... If one's heart is corrupted, is he really any better than the "fangs"? But I won't say more so I don't give spoilers!
Yeah, Kalmar definitely wasn't a fang then. Now I'm curious - would you consider Kalmar a fang in the moments when he lost himself?
That’s really interesting actually I’m getting more excited to read this. A fang essentially is just a corrupted person. Their corruption is just on a more obvious level, someone can be corrupt but no one knows based on appearance alone. So can a Fang be considered a fang based on appearance alone? I would argue that any person whose heart is corrupt would be considered a “Fang”
At no point would I say that Kalmar’s heart was corrupt. It was damaged and maybe weakened but never corrupt. So if we say that a fang is a person with a corrupt heart then, no. Ig at no point in the story would I consider Kalmar to be a fang even when he was gone. That was merely the result of fear and confusion. But Kal did say the storekeeper said u had to want to become a fang in order for it to work so now I’m second guessing myself. Maybe that’s why Kal was able to “come back” cuz he may have made the choice, but it may not have been bcuz his heart was corrrupt. He didn’t really have any other option so ye id still say he never really was a fang.
This just got so deep and philosophical I love this😂
I don't remember, the third and fourth book was a bit of a daze for me. At first I only owned the first two books, so when we visited some friends in Belgium who had the last ones, I spent three days speed reading the whole thing.
I'm always amazed that Freva continued working for them after all that! Even after the truth came out and all was forgiven, it would be really hard to have someone who tried to have your son/grandson/brother executed working in your house every day!
I'm saying Esben dies though. he matches the stereotype for books if you consider him old. but then Artham does not match it though because if Es is old, so it Arth.
I was suspicious of him, but I didn't expect him to do that. I had to reread the paragraph a couple of times XD
To me, Wingfeather plot twists were harder to predict than those in other books and that's part of why I enjoy the series so much.

I'm not sure my reaction exactly but I'm pretty sure I had a bad feeling about him from the start. And I was right! He is the absolute worst
I don't think I remember... All I know now about Bonifer is a forever burning hatred.
make sure you add a spoiler warning to the title. not everyone has read it. (You can go to the three dots at the top of the post and click edit)
Same!!!!!!

There is a rule in literature that is typically followed by authors.
"If it's an old character, he either dies or betrays the young protagonist."
I dont know what's thier deal with old people. Why not let them LIV? It's probably because of aesthetic but still...
