Hey! Another chapter!
CHAPTER FIFTEEN: THE WARDEN
The next moments in Throg was chaos. Artham was dragged off unconscious. Esben fairly passed out, but, shockingly, no one, aside from Artham, was seized. After they grabbed Artham and departed, and the a silence followed….but then NIia raced towards her husband, and fairly collapsed into his arms. In a moment, she could feel Esben was hugging her tight. Leeli stood frozen back, not sure what to do. Should she interrupt this moment? it seemed so perfect.
Podo stopped up his granddaughter and brought her over the couple, and Esben’s arms went out towards her. He kissed her cheek, and held his family close.
Oh, there was so much to explain…..
He finally opened his eyes, and looked down at his beautiful wife, and his beautiful daughter. Podo squeezed his shoulder and Esben smiled.
He also saw Sara and Oskar, who Nia introduced in a few words. He bowed his head slightly, but he never properly heard a word, he was too enraptured by the love of his family….
Arthra dug her heels deeper and deeper into the horses side, galloping like mad into what she assumed was the main part of the Hollows. She didn’t know, but she had received many glares of confusion and shock.
Her breathing was hard. Would Janner even know her? He was only three, but she had coddled and cuddled and loved him. She had been the one to choose his name. Esben and Nia couldn’t decide on one, and she suggested it, knowing it meant “scholar”, and him being a limner, it seemed appropriate.
Her eyes scanned the land before her, but still no details could be seen. She could not express her disappointment when she could not see Kal’s face. She would never admit it, but of her family, she missed the Jewels immensely.
She never even got to establish a relationship with little Leeli. Only Janner and Kal.
She tried to squish the thoughts of her homeland when a sudden thought came back. Her father. Artham Wingfeather.
Oh, she missed him. He was her home, her true home, and she wanted to see him so badly. But she couldn’t.
She wiped a stray tear from her face, and stopped her horse, hearing commotion and figuring she was in the middle of some place.
“Excuse me,” she said, trying to locate one person and hope they were nice.
“Oy, what you want lass?”
She cringed at the voice. It was Nibbick Bunge.
“Do you know where Janner Wingfeather is?”
He grunted. “In the infirmary.”
“Could you lead me there?”
He laughed. “What are you, blind? You’re right in front of it.”
She blushed, and you have no idea the temptation she had to battle to not kick him in the face. After all he had done, and he acted so nonchalant.
She jumped off her horse, didn’t even tether it, and marched in.
She asked the nurse in half a daze where he was, and she was stubborn against telling a stranger where he was.
Arthra reached into her satchel, and pulled out a small chain.
The woman gasped, and slowly let her in.
She went straight to his side, and she froze.
“May I be alone, please?”
The woman nodded and departed, but Arthra didn’t know.
She reached out a hand, and gently touched his arm, and then she moved it down to his wrist, and felt his pulse. An icy fear gripped her heart when she felt nothing..
Nothing…
Nothing…
Wait.
Did you guys like it? You guys happy with this ending?!
There’s more 😂 I can’t do that, I’ll get in too much trouble LOL
She felt it! Weak but it was there.
She then heard a slight groan, and she dropped a small drop of the water on his lips, somehow she got it there……
She waited for a moment, an agonizing moment……….
Then he took a breath.
She whispered thousands of whispers of thanksgiving to the Maker. Emotion she didn’t even know she could feel swelled in her, and for once, after nine years, she felt like everything would be okay. Then she heard Janner move.
Oh the struggle and confusion he woke up to! His body was weak, but as strength entered it, it started to hurt, but he slowly, agonizingly, propped himself up. He looked to his side
“Who are you?” Janner shakily asked.
She, smiling and breathing quickly, grabbed his hand. “It’s a long story. But your brother and family need you. What do you say, Throne Warden? Are you strong enough to stand?”
He felt panic for a moment, and almost recoiled, thinking her some impostor.
But then he saw a familiarity in her face, and, though he couldn’t place her and his mind spun, he knew she was full of goodness and that he could trust her.
He squeezed her hand back.
“Yes.”
YAY! Janner!!!! 😝 He’s back!!!!! WHOOP WHOOP!!!! 🙌
Okay, now, I do one to say one thing to you. So, First Well has maybe about 5-6 more chapters…maybe more, I don’t know lol.
But, I would like to have a little bit of a head start on the next FF, so vote in the comments if you want the sequel to the First Well (which will have all the characters that were in the First Well in it) or the prequel (which will clear things up with Emerald, Dralden, Artham, Arundelle, and a lot of uncovered history ^^)
Just let me know! 😃
IF YOU ENDED IT THERE, YOU WOULD BE IN MORE TROUBLE THAN YOU COULD IMAGINE!
I LOVE this story!! Great job! I can't decide if I want the sequel or prequel... guess I'll say prequel. But please write both!!!
😮 If you'd ended it there I'd have been SO mad...Thanks for not doing that!
Sequel or prequel....................................uhhhhhhh..................................................... I think I'd like the sequel first. (you will do both, right?) Cuz I really want to know what happens after this! (But I also really wanna know what happens before)
