OK, I need to know. Are you happy with the ending and want janner to stay dead? Or do you think he should come back to life with the water from the First Well? Tell me!!😂 Sorry, i'm curious.
I am satisfied with the ending; it provides much "spectrum for imagination." Janner's death, although sad, I think is beautiful and glorious since it kind of represents Christ's sacrifice for us. But I say this after having a few years gone by since I read it for the first time 😅 I was quite sad at first.
I was sad when I came to the end. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS! It just can’t end like that! Janner gave the ultimate sacrifice. He deserves to live. Think about his poor family! Yes, it leaves you to wonder, but that’s my problem. It makes me so sad when I think about it. What if the well doesn’t work 😭😭. Please Mr. Peterson give me an ending so my emotions won’t be played with anymore. Also Artham too. I rejoiced when his mind was healed and when he found his love again but he is still a cloven. For the record, I am ok with that. Still, I do wish he could be healed physically. In conclusion, this is the only problem I have with this book. This book is phenomenal. I laughed, I cried, it moved me Bob.
I think I agree with Andrew Peterson that it was a good spot to stop the series in order to get the reader to really ponder and chew on what he wants them to. Yet the story clearly continues on afterward (an unwritten arc), and I personally think there are things to support Janner coming back :)
At first I was so sad with the ending, but the more time has gone on, I've found that I really love it!
It makes it seem like there will always be more to the story, and leaves the readers to make up their own minds of what happens next.
I've never been able to decide if Janner should be revived or not. 😅
But, I think most the time, I like the sad and hopeful feeling his death brought, and I think that it makes it seem realistic, that sacrifices were made, and that it will always hurt, but not theres a really bright future ahead!
Same. I like the story ending (except that it's really sad lol) but I also kind of want Janner to come back. Apart of me also feels like if Janner did come back it would sort of ruin the ending because he sacrificed himself for his brother and to bring him back would kind of be weird. So i'm not sure😂 I'm kind if inbetween.
I think it was a good ending, even if it wasn't too good for Nia or Sara or the other characters. Personally, I think Janner does come back, but the ending sort of showed how God loves us, by sending his son to die for us.
Yes I agree it wasn't good for Nia, Sara, and the others, but he also healed many, including Kalmar, from what Gnag had done to them. So I think it's like a two way street. But it's still sad.😥 RIP Janner. But then please come back to life😂
Well, for me, I've held onto the hope that Janner will live. It just seemed too tragic otherwise. For a long time, the epilogue taunted me, since the possibility was introduced but doesn't tell you what happens (and we still haven't gotten a straightforward answer from the author).
Storywise, I almost think that Janner dying would be more of an appropriate ending (otherwise his coming back would almost downplay the sacrifice he made), but then again, if Janner in the story represents in a small way our Savior's death on the cross, then I would think that he should come back to life. I think I mainly hold onto that opinion, because otherwise the story would feel too tragic, mostly for Nia. I mean, her whole world fell apart; she lost her husband (from her point of view) and her mother, watched her daughter grow up lame, witnessed her son's fanging, discovered that her husband was actually alive the whole time, then watched her other lover accidentally kill her husband. Then, at last, her firstborn son dies. It just seemed too sad.
But I also understand the people who have the opposite point of view, because him coming back so easily would almost feel cheap and predictable. I hope that someday Andrew Peterson will share his thoughts, so that we can know what happened. I have a feeling he won't, though.

I know he comes back to life!!!!! I found evidence IN THE BOOK!!!! I put it in another thing.... so you should be able to find it....
I officially have decided that I am unsure and that is the perfect ending.
I'm partially satisfied. I personally believe he comes back.

The ending is perfect.
Him being a Tragic Hero would feel more satisfying.
I am happy with the ending. I don't know whether he comes back or not, but either answer doesn't really bother me. 🙂 What do you think and why?
