No, I don't mean whether you think Janner comes back or not. What do you think happens with the first well? Assuming Kal is able to find it again without his wolf senses, what will he do with the well after he throws water on Janner? Before the fall of Anyara, Dwane and Gladys had guarded the first well and used the water to heal and restore, and without meaning to, had lived longer than anyone else. Will Kal distribute the water to the sick and injured? Will he keep it hidden, or make its location public knowledge? Why was the well hidden (before it was lost) in the first place, and do those reasons still apply? And the big question: will Kal live forever because of the first well? Dwane and Gladys lived for centuries because of the water, and only died because of their son's treachery. Because if Kal lives forever, he'll never see his father again. And if the water doesn't bring Janner back, he'll never see his brother again, either.

I think Kal won't live forever, but that he will probably distribute the water to the sick and injured. To live forever would be a curse. He'd have to constantly see his loved ones dying. I think the well should remain a secret. It's power could easily be abused if its location was widely known.
I think he finds the well and is able to bring Janner back to live but, i do not think that he shares the location of the first well publicliy. I think he will go back again but only for special accurences like if there is another war. I don think that Kalmar would use it to live forever but i do think he will have a longer lifespan then other people.
I think that he found the well, and that Janner came back to life (at least I hope he did). Afterwards, he would have probably kept the location secret, because it might be used by people for the wrong reasons. I don't think he would use it to live forever.
I think what happens after, is Kal asks the Maker all these questions and hard moral dilemmas and bases his decisions off of that. *mic drop*
Personally, I really don't think they would distribute it across Aerwiar. The Well was created by the Maker and is therefore sacred. It seems too precious to be used for...well, everything.
Look at what happened when Ouster Will used it: he lived for years and years and years and destroyed Aerwiar. I like to think of the First Well as an analogy for the Tree of Life. When the world was unmarred and perfect, the Tree of Life was a beautiful thing. But then we ate the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. We could not live forever after that. We would have destroyed the world (I mean, we're currently destroying it, but that's not the point). Adam and Eve could not be near the Tree of Life any longer because of what they had done. I think the Water from the First Well is similar.
Would it be wrong, per say, to heal people with the Water? I suppose not, but Aerwiar is already being set to right. The cloven and fangs who wanted to change were transformed, the people of Dugtown were rescued, those captured by Gnag were liberated.
The Well gives people hope and faith. Oftentimes, those are enough to get you through the hardest days.
For reasons I will not be getting into now I do believe janner will not be brought back and is dead. This is a theory I have, and I may have some evidence from the books.
leaves to go my bedroom and think for a few hours* 😐
........
Um...
Oh boy, those are some tough questions, I’ll have to give them some thought…
I personally think he brings Janner back and uses some to heal the sick, but keeps the location secret. I don't think he would use it to live forever either.
I think if Kal was wise as a ruler, he would keep the well hidden, and storywise, it would have probably ended with them keeping the well a secret, or trying to fix the mess cause my it being misused. Kal would likely choose to love without the water if that happened
Didn't Podo age after having the water from the First Well? He slowed down considerably according to Leeli.
Hmm... I guess I always kind of imagined that whenever anyone found the well, it was by the Maker's will. You wouldn't be able to find it again unless the Maker wanted you too. So, while Kal may have found it for Janner, maybe it was lost again?
Maybe we could compare it to the fruit Digory picked in The Magicians Nephew. It would be misusing it (sort of) to live forever. Our days on earth are numbered by God and we can't cheat death. Of course, I don't know how that would work in Aerwiar.
