hey, so this is just my opinion on people who are against Jannaraā¦ Iāve seen a lot of people complaining about it in the show and how itās not accurate to the books. Like Iāve seen more than one rant about itā¦ and to be quite honest I donāt understand why everybody is reacting SO highly to it. I can understand when it doesnāt seem like the show is following the books correctly. Trust me I get it, because I grew up with the books and seeing those things they changed in the show was a little bit disappointing. However, Andrew Peterson did an amazing job of re-creating an already amazing story into a showā¦ the thing is Jannara in the show just shows a deeper dive into Sara and Jannerās relationship in the books. There is honestly nothing wrong with it. Itās more logical that Janner wouldāve already knew Sara, considering he risked his life for her. So itās more probable to think that he wouldāve already had a crush on her before that. And I understand that theyāre only 12 which is pretty young to fall in love, but itās also not impossible. People have fallen in love at 12 years old beforeā¦ especially considering almost everything that went through was not something a 12-year-old shouldāve been going through. So I donāt understand that once it comes to him falling in love, (which is like the most normal thing he expierences at such a young age) is suddenly a problem? Like itās taking so much credit away from Janner? Like heās not āa normal 12 yr oldā guys šAnd like the way you guys are ranting about how it ruined the show or whatever why are you even reading the books or watching the show if you donāt like the authorās choices?? I mean, I totally understand critiquing bits and sections of the books, but when itās an entire relationship between 2 amazing characters and youāre like ripping on it, its pretty annoying. I wouldnāt say that Sara and Janner were dating, because they werenāt.. but they were DEFINITELY more than friends considering that both of them claimed to be in love with each other. Even Janners mother and brother knew? If you paid attention in the books Sara cobbler was a huge part of the story and the whole reason that she was able to free everybody from the fork factory was because Janner created this inspiration and light in her.
So sorry I knew that was a long rant but itās just frustrating when people hate on it so muchā¦. I genuinely donāt understand why itās such a big issue š¤·āāļø
Spoiler! Also if Janner doesn't come back there's no more Jannara!
I didnāt even know there were people like that š³
Yeah, I love Janara! Especially in the show!!! š„ŗ
I am not anti-Janara (tho they aren't my favorite couple) but I do wish they sticked closer to the books because I remember feeling confusion on who Sara was because of how obscure she was in the first book I liked how I had to go back to the first book to figure out who she was. overall I do like their dynamic but I don't think (at least in the books) that they spent enough time together to truly love each other.
HOW COULD ANYONE BE ANTI-JANARA???! šššššššššššš
I'm very anti-romance, but that doesn't mean I'm against Sara and Janner... Janna? Sanner? Janana? Anywho, it means I ignore it because that's not why I'm watching the show. I didn't even know that there was that much resistance. There is only one major problem I have with the show. THEY KILLED ZOUZAB!!!! WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT? HE WAS IN MY TOP TEN FAVORITE CHARACTERS!!!
I'm not an anti-Jannara person, but I do disagree that they're "in love" in the books. I definitely think they had crushes on each other over time, and I think they probably eventually get married (assuming everything goes well), but I'm not sure being "in love" is possible at twelve years old, however mature the characters may be. š I don't remember either of them ever claimed to be in love with the other. Nia certainly said it, while they were eating dinner at the Orchard Inn and Cookery, and Sara was embarrassed that whenever she thought of her future husband, she thought of Janner, and we remember that Janner thought Sara was very pretty and he wanted to save her, but I don't think they themselves ever actually said they were in love.
Janner didn't actually risk his life to save Sara; he hoped to save her as a by-product of escaping himself. And he was ashamed of these thoughts, because he knew he wasn't selfless enough to sacrifice himself for her. Of course, they did end up with a life-changing connection for both of them; Janner remembered Sara's kindness and sacrifice when he was feeling hopeless, and it inspired bravery and selflessness in him, and Sara was inspired by Janner's bravery and his determination and hope. More than just friends? Yes! But I don't think romance was necessarily involved. (though again, yes, there were crushes!)
Of course, I'm the old lady on TTH (as far as I know I'm the only married person here), so my perspective is probably different from most! I would have preferred the show to stay closer to the books in season 1, but since Andrew Peterson approved it, I can forgive the differences!
