What did y'all think about tonight's livestream? Did you feel that your questions were suffieciently answered? I personally found his response to the question about Sara interesting. He said that they adapted Sara's character accurately to the books. While we can't really say for certain what Sara was like before the Fork! Factory! we can infer that she likely would've been a mirror of her gentle post-factory self. Her character was supposed to contrast with Maraly, since Maraly was a tomboy and Sara was more of a lady-like character. The film adaption portrayed Sara's pre-factory self as being similar to how I envisioned Maraly. How do you think this will affect their relationship after the Fork! Factory!?
I also found his responses about the maturity of the content interesting as well. It's highly improbable that a Christian animated series would be too mature for the majority of teens or pre-teens, but I found it interesting that he specified that it wouldn't necessarily be appropriate for younger children. The age appropriateness of violence is somewhat controversial among Christians, since I knew families who allow their 7-year-olds to watch LOTR, and others that didn't allow it until they were in their late teens. I personally feel that it is more about the context of the violence as well as how it's portrayed. What are your thoughs?
I missed it! 😭😭😭😭😭😭
In the livestream I heard Chris Wall mention that Sara's affection of Leeli was crucial to her character but I didn't hear why. Did anybody catch that?
Well, as long as they keep the Fork Factory sequence and her character arc the same as the books, then I won't mind so much. Sara is still not anything like I imagined her, but after watching the livestream, I think I've been too presumptuous about the reasons they made her the way she is. Since I've seen so many annoying trends in modern Hollywood, I had assumed that Sara was adapted the way she was for the same reasons, which is probably not even true.
There were a lot of questions I was glad to hear answered, and I feel more enthusiastic about season 2 since Mr. Wall said that her character will be accurate to the books in the Fork! Factory!. Although, I agree that her character wouldn't be quite as constrasted to Maraly.
I had to get off the livestream for dinner, so I didn't get my question answered! (I just really want that missing clip put back in episode 2!)
I think Sara definitely would have been different before the Fork Factory than she was in the factory, but I don't necessarily think that her pre-factory self was the same as her post-factory self. She grew so much in the factory, in courage, in leadership, in selflessness, and in purpose. They said she'll be much closer to the books in the factory, so I think that as long as they keep that promise and also show her character growth through the factory and beyond, I'll be satisfied.
I watched LotR when I was about 7. I remember not being scared of the Ring Wraiths, while my older brothers were hiding under blankets in fear.
I had another question that might've explained the content maturity better, but I asked it too late 😂 Chris has mentioned Avatar: The Last Airbender in past livestreams as a reference for the rating. ATLA is intense while still being age appropriate for the 8-12 and up range. I highly doubt they'd show any more in terms of violence compared to ATLA, so I don't think there needs to be a concern for that. Especially compared to LotR. It definitely won't be that violent
I didn't make it😢
It was really fun! I enjoyed chatting with everyone on the chat, and the Peet figurine was SO cool!! I can't wait for that to come out!
I was really happy with his answer to my costume question, hopefully they'll be able to do it at some point!
Oh, I completely forgot about tonight's livesteam! I guess I'll just have to go back and rewatch it😅
