After Artham is Transformed and gets his wings, I would like to see some moments of him coming to terms with his new form in a way that reflects his mental state.
EXAMPLES:
1: The Escape- I want this whole sequence to essentially have Artham LEARN how to fly, since in the books he just suddenly KNOWS how to do it. By doing so, this also raises the stakes of the scene, basically saying "if he doesn't figure out how to fly out of there, they won't make it."
After Artham breaks the cage in fury and renewed strength, he takes a moment to glance at his new wings with a mixture of fear, confusion, and awe while the Fangs stand in dazed silence.
As Artham escapes from the chamber with Kal, he struggles with learning how to use his wings as he runs and jumps, dodging the onslaught of fangs.
He gains more courage as he makes his way out of the chamber into the open air, managing to glide and fly for short bursts.
Once escaping he approaches a cliff and after taking a glance at Kalmar in his arms, takes a leap of faith resulting in flight away from the island.
At this point all fear is gone and though he's still a bit bewildered, he's more concerned about the safety of Kalmar than himself.
2: Across the sea- As the ship carrying the Wingfeathers makes its way across the sea and the threat of the dragons has passed, I'd like to see a scene where Artham expresses his inner peace through flight.
He stands at the ship's prow, gazing out on the ocean, perhaps letting off some steam after fruitlessly attempting to remind Kalmar of who he is.
A breeze brushes by and Artham gazes at his wings, marveling at the individual feathers ruffling in the wind.
He sighs in the cool air and takes a couple steps to the edge of the ship, humming a quiet tune to himself.
He scans the distance, unfurls his wings then flaps them cautiously a couple times before taking a deep breath and jumping from the ship.
A glorious theme begins to play as Artham swoops over the deep blue waves, and shoots of sunlight begin to pierce through the clouded sky above.
Artham weaves between beams of light cascading sparkling pools on the water, then reaches down and sweeps one of his clawed hands on the surface, examining it with a look of wonder.
He turns his eyes upward and quickly soars to the heavens, the music rising with him, reaching a triumphant climax as the clouds break to release a gorgeous sunset, engulfing Artham in a halo of light.
He looks like an angel, pure and whole.
We then get a shot of his expression, joy, his eyes filled with tears as he free falls from the sky.
With a turn of his wings, he sweeps from his free fall to a gentle glide once more.
Nia watches from the ship as Artham alights back onto the prow, his face beaming with pride.
SOME ADDED DETAILS:
Frequently bumping into things with his wings (people furniture, etc.)
Facing a bit of difficulty entering smaller doorways or hallways, having to fold his wings in as tightly as possible to fit through.
Adjusting and fidgeting his wings regularly when in any resting position. (Sitting, standing, laying down.)
Feathers falling out when in his crazed state, similar to how birds lose feathers when under extreme stress or anxiety.
Emoting/expressing with his wings like pair of larger, clumsier arms.
What do you think? This is just my thoughts on what could be done to add some grounding to this element of the story.
I SO WANT ALL OF THAT IN THERE. ABSOLUTELY, DO IT, DO IT, DO IT.
Man, you could write scripts, Laura!
Also, yes; clumsy situations necessary for slapstick and physical comedy😂🤣🤣🤣 Doorways especially🤣🤣🤣
I’m just now imagining Artham running through the Strander burrows with Gammon (Florid Sword OR SWORID FLORD HAHAHAH) and kind of clumsily doing this…😂 Just getting stuck, even… can’t contain this bird😆🧦🪶
I really love that scene in book four when Artham goes into this house on accident and interrupts someone’s lunch😂 They yell at him and throw a frying pan before he goes, “Sorry, sorry!” and quickly shuts the trapdoor🤣🤣🤣 I SO want that in the show😂😂😂
That sounds so amazing. I just cant
One of these days I will be confident enough in my writing/character analysis skills to get stuff like this out there it's ALL SO COOL
This. Is. Genius!
YES!! This is Beautiful!! 😭And really adorable!!
