I have some questions for everyone about the show! I know there are many different levels of enjoyment for it, so let's begin!
- Did you enjoy the show? Could they have done better? Was it too childish?
- What was your favorite change from the books to show? Which was your least favorite?
- In future seasons, which part are you most excited about to see turned into animation? Which part are you least excited about?
- Did the show give you any new perspectives that the books didn't? What was a scene you wished they could have added to the show?
I LOVED IT!!
I didn't like how they added Sara in it and said she was from Glipwood
When Janner goes to the Fork Factory
Not really
Yes! I loved the show! It did seem adjusted from the books to be more attractive to younger kids and parents of younger kids (taking out Janner's blow-up at Podo, for instance), but it was still really good!
Favourite change? Seeing more of the kids at home and playing, I think. That was cool; although I also kind of liked them finding Esben's sword in Anklejelly Manor. I admit though, it seems like a bit of a plot hole as to how it got there. Least favourite? That scene where the zibzy team gets the key. I was so confused; that's not in the book, and it seemed to kind of distract from the main plot. I feel like they could have used that time with something else, like keeping Esben's drawing, the "ghost" of Brimney Stupe, etc.
I am looking forward to all of the future stuff honestly!! I am a little worried though that Janner's lead in the Fork Factory won't be quite so strong, that Sara will already be halfway through a plan or something by the time he gets there, and she just helps him get out. I love how the books represent men, even boys like Janner and Kal, as the protectors; they don't make women and girls look weak and incompetent in the least, but it encourages boys to protect, which is amazing! The new Sara's spunkiness isn't bad; but it is a deviation from the books that I hope doesn't develop into a feminist push. Oh, I just thought of one scene that I will really enjoy: when Janner grabs Mobrik by the collar and goes full Throne Warden on him 😂 Mobrik's face will be awesome!!
I love the animation. I know people who aren't fond of the animation but i think it is beautiful how they are stepping outside of the box and doing something different, and creative. It can be enjoyed for all ages but i think teens would understand it better, though it seems any age could enjoy it. I am excited to see how they do future episodes, and how the show will get better as they go one. I think the books were a better experience probably just because it was my first experience, but they are doing a great job and can see how much effort they are putting into making it. It is always cool to see how i pictured the characters and scenes when I first read the series back in 2020 and how they look in the animated show. I also love the soundtrack a lot. The voice actors did great too. The story is of course the best part.
I LOVED IT SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *reminds self to breathe calmly* I didn't think it was childish at all. I'm not entirely sure why you would think that? Maybe that's just me. Could they have done better? Yes. Any show could. That's just reality. Would I want them to change anything? No, I don't think so. I respect and understand every decision they made.
My favorite and least favorite change would be Sara Cobbler. Does that even make sense? Probably not 😂 The emotional scenes with Janner after she was taken are some of my favorite moments. But I do agree that her personality isn't the same as the books.
MAJOR SPOILERS
I wish there was more Armulyn! Yes, he wasn't in that much of the book, but given that he's played by Rich Mullin's brother, I assumed he'd have a bit of a bigger role. I guess I'm just supposed to wait until Season 6 *sighs*
The show was pretty good. It did seem a little bit oriented toward younger children though. I would have loved it at 7. Unfortunately, the shows I enjoy now were made before I was old enough to see them and the shows I would have enjoyed then are being made when I'm much older.
I don't ever really care for changes in adaptions. Sara's character change was my biggest pet peeve and how they didn't stay true to the books for the first episode but it doesn't take much from the series in my opinion.
I'm curious about how they will do the meldings and what they will do for the cloven.
I WILL answer my own questions. Lol.
I LOVED the last two episodes, A LOT. The others were ok, and I wish they were a little better honestly, they felt geared towards younger kids and that's fine, but I do wish it had more mystery and a little more intensity than the show does. Not like fighting, just that the stakes were higher.
I'm not sure... I don't think any changes REALLY stood out to me that much as great or exciting. My least favorite was Sara's change. (Cara Sobbler) I wish she had been just a little softer, a little quieter than in the show. Just a little more relaxed and kind.
I WANT TO SEE PEET WITH WINGS EXCAPING THE STONEKEEPERS CHAMBER SO BADLY!!! I CANNOT wait to see this part!! And to make more fan edits with all of it!! I also am excited to see Arundel's design. Although this is a few years off Lol.
I think honestly it made me think harder about the story line of the book itself. It also made me really feel awful for Peet seeing him at his lowest moments in the show. 😭
I really wish they had made it just a little slower in the beginning like the books were. Maybe just a few extra scenes, meeting Armulyn on the walk home, seeing Peet for the first time, stuff like that.
