DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE FINISHED THE WINGFEATHER BOOKS!
I really had fun answering the questions on an old post about the ending of Wingfeather, so I felt like making another post with some questions about it, just everyone else's thoughts on the different things that happened. I'll start with the first book and go from there!
- What were your thoughts on the beginning? I know a lot of people who think that it was too slow to start out. Did you feel that way? Do you think Andrew Peterson should have made it a quicker beginning? Or was it a good idea to start it off slow?
- What was your favorite part of book one? Which hit you hardest with sadness? Which part made you ecstatic with joy?
- What was your least favorite part of book? Was there anything you think that could have been improved upon? Which part did you think was written perfectly?
- Did you have any guesses with all the secrets in the beginning? Were any of them correct?
- And finally, at first, who was your favorite character? And what was your reactions to meeting each character? Which was your least favorite at the end of it all? Which had the strongest story at the end of the first book? Which stood out to you the most and which stood out to you the least?
Keep in mind these are all questions for the first book, so only the characters from that book.
ALSO! Some things I was thinking about with Wingfeather...
So, Peet/Artham seems to be extremely agile and quick, also very light. And I was curious, do you think since he is melded with a bird, that his bones are hollow like a birds?
Something that only hit me now is the fact that, since Gnag (Davion Wingfeather.) Is the Kids' great uncle, then he is the Uncle of Artham and Esben, and is also the brother to Artham and Esben's father, right?
I really liked the beginning actually, that slow mysterious kind of start is what hooked me and made me have to know more. I think it was a good idea for Andrew Peterson to start it like that and thoroughly enjoyed it. It helped me become familiar with the characters without plunging into the story so harshly like some books do.
I really liked reading about Books and Crannies, just the idea of it all and seeing Janner working at a the bookshop just made me happy! The part that hit me hardest with sadness was the kids following Peet in the treetops and getting a glimpse into what his life is like, seeing the pain that edges every corner of it.
I think my least favorite part is the fact that poor Peet keeps his distance from everyone so harshly, and everyone just kind of makes fun of him as the weirdo in town.
Most the time when I read, I'm always working out the plot somewhere in the back of my mind. Lots of the time without even realizing it. So I had some guesses and once Peet started messing up with their name, I knew they had to be important, but I did not think about them being the jewels since most the time Jewels are actually diamonds and stuff Lol.
At first and for about a year after reading it, Janner was my favorite character EVER. He was my role model in a way. I loved the fact that I was the oldest like him, and I still do! But over time, I just found myself enjoying Artham/Peet more. The way he is and who he is. When I met each character, it just added a log to the fire that is my curiosity and I had to know what was going on Lol. As for least favorite character, I love them all, even the bad ones! Except you Bonifer, you can go sit in the dungeons and shush. But honestly, at first I really was angry at Podo for his reactions to Peet and the things the kids said. But I like him a lot more now knowing his story.
i think for the first book of a series, Andrew did a pretty good job. yeah, it was slow, but as the author is writing the beginning of a story they themselves are trying to figure out how and where the story is going to go and character development is about the same as a first impression and sometimes first impressions are hard or awkward or slow. so yeah it was slow and a little painful, but i think he did a good job establishing a connection with the reader and drawing the reader into wanting more from the story as best he could.
my favorite part, was when the kids went to peets tree house and the whole time he danced around the children being wingfeathers subject, yet they made no connection with themselves being the wingfeathers (if that made sense). when janner read the letter from esben. that made me tear-up i dont know if anything made me ecstatic, per say, but the scene when the igibys meet armulyn for the first made me laugh
my least favorite scene was probably when podo was being mean to artham after they freed them from the jail and fought all of the fangs. that almost made me angry. i think it was necessary for podos character to be bitter toward artham, but i wish he wasny angry with him, because artham already has mental problems to deal with and podo doesnt need to add to them. probably when the kids receive their gift from annier after they are told they are the jewels of anniera.
no, i was completely oblivious the whole time. i just followed the plot line and didnt really think ahead about the end of the book, soo it caught me off guard for sure. however, my little sister just finished the book one and while she was reading it, we would talk about the previous chapters she had read and every sinlge time she would guess on a whim, the major plot twists and i just had to nod and not confirm or deny anything.
thank you for reading my essay😂😂
So many questions!
I didn't think it was slow. I read the book fairly quickly. I actually had to make myself stop, so I didn't read it all at one time 🤣
My favorite part would just be the descriptions of Books & Crannies. I want to live there! Sadness? I guess when Nugget got hurt and Andrew didn't tell us if he was okay or not for a hundred chapters! (Ok, maybe it wasn't THAT long....) I don't know if any part made me ecstatic 🤔
Like Azog said, my least favorite part would be the childish humor. I've never been a fan of that. Thankfully, there isn't that much of it, so it barely bothers me.
Halfway through the book, I figured out that they were the Jewels. It felt so obvious to me that I thought Andrew made it too easy, but my mom didn't figure it out until the end, so maybe it was just obvious for me? (Yes, I realize this sentence is probably a run-on sentence, but I don't know how to fix it!)
During the first book, Janner was my favorite, but if you guys know me at all, you know that that has changed 😂
I think it started out well. It made sense to start from where they did since Janner thought that he was just a normal Glipwooder.
My favorite part of book one was the battle with the fangs at Anklejelly.
I didn't care for some of the humor since it seemed rather childish.
I usually go with the flow when I read and don't guess ahead much.
That may be the hardest question of all since they're all good characters (except for Slarb and Gnorm).
I fell asleep a few times reading book 1 lol
My favorite part was when Nia told the kids that they were the Jewels
My least favorite part was when Gnorm put the kids in jail
I guessed from the beginning when the Jewels were mentioned, that the kids were the jewels lol
Janner!
