This one gets a little more angsty, and violent, but nothing higher than the books. CHAPTER FIFTEEN: PROTECT Artham tried to focus as he slayed beast after beast on his way back to the castle. But his mind mourned. Mourned his wife…Arundelle. He had deeply loved her since he was thirteen. He remembered hardly being able to speak to her as a child. She was gone. It filled him with rage, and he killed five beasts with one swipe. His children… Another seven dead. Esben… Ten in one swipe. Wendolyn… His sword plunged into two. His home… He pushed the monsters back; his castle was in sight. His family… “I’m coming Esben!” Behind him, he felt his head hit. He fell down, and then he looked up. He saw his brother, with a gash on his forehead. “Esben!” He was on his feet in moments, and he felled two more with his bare hands. “Try to cooperate lad,” a cool voice said. He turned his head and saw Bonifer Squoon. “You maggot!” Artham shouted, about to lunge, but he was seized from behind and knocked so hard he drew blood. “Your brother made a deal. The gem…for your life. You see, your sister wanted Esben, but we could do what we wished with you. And since you seem to be a bit of a nuisance, the Fangs didn’t want to keep you around. But your brother gave us something…much more valuable than you in exchange for you.” Bonifer smiled. Artham was so confused and angry. He was about to say something, but then he was knocked unconscious. yeah...so sorry I missed the regular posting! 😭 And tagging @J. YAY! Actually consistent chapter! Chapter 4 Four Years Earlier       Finigan was jolted awake by the banging on the front door. A poisonous voice yelled at the top of it’s lungs to be granted entrance. Out his window Finigan saw a black crow atop a dark carriage. His parents had prepared for this night, for, in his closet, there was a secret hiding spot barely large enough to hold two children. All Finigan had to do was get there, and he’d be safe.  Finigian ducked into the dark crevice as he heard the sound of a door being knocked off it’s hinges, and the scaly voice began questioning his parents. Finigan sat there for terrifying minutes as his father stalled the Fang when finally, outside his door, he heard the creak of a floorboard announcing the arrival of his brother who had been sneakily making his way to Finigan’s room. Finley was two years older than him and slept just down the hall from him. Finigan breathed a sigh of relief- relief that was immediately decimated by the sound of a fang pushing past his parents. When Finley entered the room Finigan was watching him through a peep hole in the hideout. Finley’s eyes were wide with fear as he dove for the closet, but a claw reached around the door and caught his arm. The Fang laughed and yelled “I knew them was hiding something!”, and it dragged Finley from the room. “They tried to distract us!”, One of the fangs on duty yelled from the entry way. “I say we take the whole lot away!” Seconds later, Finigan’s entire family was forced into the carriage, and it rolled away to ship them off, never to be seen again- until now.       Finigian was 16 now, so that made Finley 18. Finigian thought his brother was dead, after all no one really knew what the fangs did with the people they took until recently. Even then, Finigian assumed Finley had been killed during the fighting a couple months ago, or even slain by the Florid Sword. Instead, he was delivered back to Skree, fully human, and, apparently, fully ready to follow a crazy sailor off of the face of Aerwiar. Questions? Comments? Criticism? Concerns? Cookie? 🍪
