Notes: This story begins with the Igiby's arrest. I have most of the first book handwritten out, so it shouldn't take me too long to post new content, but I do have to revise and check with my editor before I publish it. Also, this is my main storyline which all my other fanfics are fanfics of. (if you understand that, lol) Let the story begin!
Origin
Eleven yr old Gracie shut her book with an upset, and very annoyed groan as Mama called her. "YESSSS??!!" she called, slightly annoyed at being interrupted. "GET READY FOR BED!" Mama called from somewhere upstairs. Gracie muttered, stood up while continuing to read at a rapid pace, walked slowly over to the bookshelf, then stood there for about ten long seconds before glancing at her page number, closing the book quickly, shoving it onto the shelf with the others, and sprinting upstairs. She walked past Mama, who was changing Matt, her baby brother, into his PJs. Mama looked at her with an expression that clearly said I'm not impressed by that girlie! but then went back to what she was doing. Gracie looked back at her guiltily, and then relieved that Mama wasn't upset, went into the room she shared with two of her three sisters.
BOOOOO!!!!!
Gracie jumped nearly out of her skin as her sister Rebekah jumped out of the closet. "Rebekahh, stop that, I don't like it, which means you need to stop doing that because that is so annoying!" Rebekah plugged her ears at the third word out of Gracie's mouth, which annoyed Gracie much more than it should have. "MAAAAMAAAA!!!!!" she wailed at the top of her lungs as Rebekah sang softly "Nana na na NA na, I can't hear you!" Mama came in annoyed and told them both to stop fighting, apologize, and hug. Rebekah did so with what Gracie thought was a smug look, which could have been accurate, but probably was not. Gracie got in her PJs and brushed her teeth, ignoring Rebekah all the while. Afterward, Rebekah and Gracie were in bed waiting for Bible time when Mama called Gracie to come to her room. Ignoring Rebekah and Tacha (pronounced with a guttural ch like in Hebrew, or maybe a little like tah-khah) she stumbled out of bed, down the hallway past the stairs, and around the corner into her parent's room. Mama said, "You're not in trouble, I just wanted to talk" and Gracie hoped her sisters heard that. Mama then continued to say, "I noticed that you have been arguing with Rebekah a lot more recently, hows come?" and the words tumbled out, as she said how Rebekah was so no touchy these days, and liked to argue, and wouldn't let her touch the edge of the bunkbed! Mama listened calmly, and then replied "You know she does what she does because of things you do and say, right? You're a role model, and she copies what you do and say, and the same applies to Rosa, Matt, and Tacha." Papa whirled around in his armchair from where he was working and said, "You could do better, but you are doing fine. We love you, and we are proud of you. Good job" and then Mama said, "Now go to bed, it's time for Bible. Gracie walked out of the room happy, followed by her parents, who opened the little's room and sat in the hall reading the Bible aloud. Afterward, Gracie kept herself awake for several hours, blinking back sleep as she thought of the book she had been reading, and the rest of the series as well.

Welp, this is my family dynamic from back when I was 11. I wasn't able to include the good parts of my relationship with my sibs, but it did exist, however small it was. And no, Rebekah and I do have a much better relationship now, which is a good thing, as she is my editor and co-writer.
~Rebekah's spot for her notes when she wants to write them

I think I can relate to the mom a lot! 😂 And when she was changing the baby into his pjs, at first I read it as "chasing" the baby to get him in his pjs, which is maybe almost the same thing! 🤣
So was Gracie reading Wingfeather??? If so (and even if not, I suppose), I can understand why she wanted to read for just a little longer! I think my kids learned to manipulate me and get more reading time from me pretty easily, because I love books even more than they do... and I was especially easily manipulated with Wingfeather. Especially when we were reading aloud and I wanted to keep reading to them...
And hello, Rebekah! I look forward to reading your notes, too!
