After watching the livestream today, I just realized that I first read The Wingfeather Saga for the first time ten years ago. My parents got the books for me when The Warden and the Wolf King was released, in July of 2014. I made it a semi-tradition to reread the books around Easter. Coincidentally, when I met AP in 2017 he mentioned shaving his beard as an Easter tradition.
It's been quite amazing to see this once-obscure book series gain such a fanbase in such a (relatively) short period of time.
I feel like I was severely deprived for years because I had never heard of the series until 2020, and didn't get to read it until 2021!!!
So, The Warden and the Wolf King is probably near 10 years old!š¤
That is so cool! I kind of wish I had discovered the books sooner myself, but now that I think about it, I think God's timing for it was perfect. I discovered them when the new edition of OtEotDSD caught my eye in a catalogue for a Christian book store in my area in 2020. I was going through a rough time then, and I think reading the books was a huge blessing.
I hope that as more people discover it, it is a blessing to them as well. (Andrew Peterson has a really neat interview about this called "No Teachable Moments". Fellow Thwaphousers, ask your parents if you can read it :) )
I did get N!oBE in July though! :)
That's incredible!! Speaking of WFS's once-obscurity, I got an ad for it on Pinterest just a few days ago while searching something completely unrelated. Had to stop and smile for a minute :)
